This project is for a family in who had an old, rotting out garage and wanted a more useable space, but didn’t need to park a car anymore! We had lots of back and forth on how to get this exactly right, and we are so pleased they’re delighted.

The 8’6” x 18’6” shed is divided into storage and sitting, and our clients wanted lots of light and ways to bring in fresh air.

Concrete pad on gravel, 2x4 framing, 2x6 rafters. Canexel Ced’R Vue lap siding, with their new to market MiraTEC matching trim. Storage side has .cedar framed and trimmed 1x4 tongue and groove custom doors using our favourite hinges. Sitting side has both a single and double door, and a total of three windows.

Last fall we built a deck in and the neighbour - a retired machinist - really liked our work. So this year we returned to work for them!

New cedar handrail with 6x6 posts, pressure treated stairs, and bin enclosure.

Porch update in with beam boxes and posts stained walnut, and tongue and groove ceiling stained in a natural cedar tone.

In the process we levelled everything! Ceiling is straight, boxes are sharp, and we added some insulation to help keep the upstairs bedroom a little toastier in the winter.

We were hired to resurface this deck in , but when we took it apart, the frame was seriously rotted. So we pivoted and rebuilt! Railings and stairs preserved.

This lovely family in had done a stunning renovation, but the porch needed a privacy screen - so we built it!

2x4 cedar privacy screen with an inset 2x2 on the rear to keep everything straight.

Even before we finished, neighbours stopped in the middle of the road to say how good it looked!

A couple of weeks ago we put in a new railing. Their attached neighbour saw it and said they’d been planning to make this change to their own home for ages. So they did!

Funny story. Two years ago I got an email asking for help with a fence. We chatted, but couldn’t meet their timeline.

This year, I got a message asking about building a deck. Their neighbours had recommended us, I couldn’t figure out who they were as their names weren’t familiar.

At the end of the project, I made the connection, and figured out who the referral came from. Someone who had never hired us, recommended us over the people that built their fence — two years ago.

This lovely family was outside of our usual in - we built a 240 square foot deck using the excellent price/quality Good Life Cabin, self skirted pressure treated wood and privacy screen + railing. Lots of angles!

The old metal railing in was rusted and detaching from the porch. We replaced it with a new railing. Safer for the kiddo, safer for all!
