Something exciting is taking root! Well actually, the whimsy has taken root. Quite literally.

Introducing you to The Whims: Backdrops and Botanicals, our greenhouse and surrounding garden in beautiful Torbay. We are sharing our garden, our labour of love, with you to capture your most cherished memories. Come experience the whimsy for all of your photography needs.

We have a large greenhouse set in our backyard surrounded by the texture of a natural landscape. In the spring, our grounds are awakened with the crisp foliage and bold colours of blooming tulips and daffodils. Our woodland garden, a secret magical garden of sorts with its meandering stone paths, sun-speckled lighting and a natural babbling brook, explodes with a sea of glistening white ground cover. It transitions to an understory bathed with lush green mosses, ferns and other shade loving plants as the summer progresses. Our cottage-style garden carefully curated with layers of flowers provides a tranquil and romantic backdrop to any photoshoot.

Our greenhouse provides cover during those rainy and drizzly days that are all too common in Newfoundland. It is a photographer’s delight with its 8-foot tall ceilings, natural lighting, and a white painted backdrop for unmatched versatility and clarity. It is a pristine sanctuary with seasonal accents and decor, a sectional sofa to comfortably sit up to six people and a twinkling canopy of warm decorative lights winding through the exposed beams.
