The devastating wildfire that has swept through Fort McMurray and the surrounding area, forcing the evacuation of the city and numerous project sites and camps, is one that touches the Bird and Nason family deeply.

In order to encourage a coordinated relief response, the provincial and federal governments are matching all donations to the Canadian Red Cross. Bird and its subsidiaries, including Nason, are making an initial donation of $50,000, and as part of our own matching program for all employees, Bird will match all donations exceeding our initial donation.

Today, the consortium to design, build, finance and operate a composting facility for the City of Calgary achieved financial close. Nason will perform construction in a 50% joint venture with Maple Reinders Inc. The indoor composting facility will be the largest of its kind in Canada. Congratulations team!

We're excited to announce we are part of the consortium recently selected as the preferred proponent to design, build, finance and operate a composting facility for the City of Calgary. Nason will perform construction in a 50% joint venture with Maple Reinders Inc. Our parent company, Bird Construction has a 50% interest in the concession responsible for the design, build, short-term financing and operation of the facility. The facility will process 100,000 wet tonnes per year of source separated organics and leaf and yard material and approx. 45,500 wet tonnes per year of biosolids.
