Before ➡️ After 🔥

This 14x8 door in Lake Isle got a serious upgrade.

We replaced the old door with a Richards-Wilcox L200 Premium, R-18 insulated, in Recessed Smooth Ranch, Iron Ore color.

Clean, modern, and built to handle Alberta weather while giving the whole exterior a fresh new look.

Another door upgraded and another happy customer. 👌

🚨 PART 1 — 16 brand new commercial doors… and this is what we found.

A brand new business had 16 doors installed — 16' wide x 16' high.

Sounds good, right?

Except when we got there, we found:
• Very poor-quality doors manufactured in China
• No wind-load rating
• No proper reinforcement
• 2" hardware on these huge doors
• Welds already cracking
• Crooked tracks and hardware
• Cables coming off
• Openers with no emergency release
• And a whole lot of things that were simply not installed properly

And the worst part?

After the problems started showing up, the company that installed them stopped answering the phone.

Now this brand new business is left dealing with the consequences — and potentially spending a lot more money just to get the doors working properly and safely.

This is exactly why the cheapest quote isn't always the cheapest option.

I’m not posting this to bash another company. I’m showing you what can happen when a big project is done without the right product, the right installation, and accountability after the job is finished.

This was a pretty cool one. 😎

The customer had an 8×8 garage door with a standard lift, but wanted to install a car lift and needed more room above the door.

So we changed the whole setup and added about 5 feet of extra vertical travel, bringing the door almost all the way up to the ceiling.

This one took a bit more than just changing the tracks. We had to customize the springs, use different drums, modify the tracks, and install a side-mount opener to make everything work properly.

And the end result? 👌

A lot more usable space and enough clearance to make the car lift possible.

I love jobs like this because we’re not just replacing a garage door — we’re figuring out how to make the garage work better for the customer.
