When a mallet and chisel followed by sanding… and more sanding is required to make a charcuterie board or three, you invest in a new tool and accessory to increase efficiency when someone asks for 20 or 30 at a time. Working inside is discouraged, however. 🤣

The fall colours are starting to show, and they’re flying out of the LYTOMIZE Woodshop!

These catch-all trays/candy dishes/cookie trays are finished with food grade mineral oil are approximately 10” wide and 11” high. No paint or stain was used… the natural colours are shining through.

It is Lanark County Harvest Festival day today! Come out to Beckwith Park on Ninth Line (just minutes south of Carleton Place) for food, family fun, vendors and a plain old good time.

The weather looks like it’ll be great and I know that Becca has had a ball at the Harvest Festival in the past while I’ve been at my vendor tent.

Some 🇨🇦 items getting prepped for my sale at the Lanark County Harvest Festival this coming Sunday! The passive phone amplifiers have been re-stocked (cherry is the species of choice this time), and if time is good to me over the next few days, I might make a few maple leaf catch-all trays out of red zebrawood/ebiara and some yellowheart too. Stay tuned!!

It isn’t done yet, but part of today was spent making another retirement clock! On my next day off from the full-time job, I’ll paint the engraved parts in black, apply a few coats of shellac (watch that black limba lumber pop when I do!) and install the movement and hands.

There’s just something so fun about this particular item up for grabs at LYTOMIZE.ca! 🇨🇦

Time to get a few more things made (fall themed) for next week’s Lanark County Harvest Festival! I headed over to The Wood Vault this afternoon and picked up some ebiara, yellowheart and black limba.

I’m so spoiled to have an access to these wood species within half an hour of my shop and only a few minutes from work for quick stops on the way home!

What will I make with it? I’m planning on making some of my bigger maple leaf catch-all trays that are always popular… and are even more so now as we all want 🇨🇦 stuff like we do leading up to Canada Day!

Someone sent me a photo of an item they saw and wondered if I could make a wood version to sit on a shelf.

This beautiful tribute plaque is six inches wide and is an inch thick - carved out of maple.
