A sneek peek at a new guitar prototype. The Surf. She just got some colour yesterday. 25" scale length, 22 frets, Ash body, Quilted Maple top, Maple neck, Rosewood fingerboard, and you'll have to wait for the rest of the specs. 😉

Well Christopher finally finished Mikaela's semi hollow "Gretsch". He did an amazing job. We'll try to get some of the actual build process photos up soon but here is the end result.

Christopher cutting the binding channel. The guitar has been bound and the neck fitted. The binding just needs to be scraped and sanded flush with the body. Next we just have to finish the neck before gluing it to the body and we're very close to final sanding and paint. Getting close!

Mikaela's Gretsch neck pocket is all shaped and ready to go. The fingerboard is radiused and the inlays are done. Just need to shape the profile of the neck. Didn't get enough pictures of the neck in process.

Semi Hollow - Chris is working hard on cutting out the inlay (stay tuned for pics) and in the meantime, we glued in the first side of the lining (kerfing). It looks pretty cool with all of the clothes pegs on with their coloured elastic bands. The purpose of the lining is to add additional gluing surface to the sides so that the back and top have more to glue to, making a stronger joint.

"Gretsch" Semi Hollow - The body is coming together. We have the sides and the centre block glued up now. The sides were steam bent and glued over a form. We'll get more pictures of that process up soon. The centre block is maple with a mahogany piece at the end.

Making some progress on the semi-hollow body. We've glued up the top and back, test fit them with the sides, and checked our neck template to make sure all fits well.

Chris has almost all of the fingerboard inlays ready to go for Mikaela's semi-hollow. Just need to finish the joker that will go at the 12th fret
