Two staircases. Two totally different builds. Same week.

The light set is custom vinyl stair noses cut from the floor material so the wrap matches the landing. The dark set I stained and varnished myself — ebony on the treads, white risers, finished to match the hardwood below.

This is the work we do at Larigee Installations. Stairs that actually belong with the rest of the house.

Just wrapped another beautiful install of solid ¾” × 3.25” wide real hardwood — white oak with a natural, light matte finish that lets the grain do all the talking.
There’s something special about working with true solid hardwood. The weight of it, the way it takes the finish, the quiet satisfaction of watching the planks come together into a floor that will last for decades. No shortcuts, no engineered layers — just honest wood underfoot.
These floors transformed the entire upper level and will only get better with time. Always a pleasure to put in work that feels this good.

Thinking of everyone in St. Catharines today, especially our neighbours in the North End dealing with the flooding.

At our own place, we’re grateful the floors were glued down — it made cleanup so much easier (the lower basement was a different story!). Glued floors really do stand up better to spills and water, and they’re simpler to repair and last longer than click systems.
