Spray foam is a specialty trade. It’s time we started treating it like one.

For too long, this industry has operated like we’re still in the pioneering days: a couple days of orientation, some time spraying in a booth, and then go learn the rest through trial and error.
That isn’t enough.

Spray foam affects heat, air, moisture, durability and the entire performance of the building envelope. When it’s done properly, it’s an incredible system. When it’s done poorly, the consequences can be expensive—and the reputation of the entire industry takes the hit.
We need to grow up as an industry.

That means deeper training. Better understanding of building science. Better equipment and processes. More accountability. More validation. And a much higher expectation of what it means to call yourself a professional spray foam installer.

This isn’t about making spray foam harder to get into. It’s about making professionalism worth something once you’re in.

If we want this industry to grow, we have to raise the standard together.
That’s exactly the conversation happening inside Think Spray Foam.

BOB DUKE — EXCLUSIVE LIVE INSIDE THINK SPRAY FOAM
Wednesday, September 30 | 8:00 PM Eastern
Can we improve the spray foam industry while the engine is still running?
That’s the conversation we’re having with Bob Duke.
Bob isn’t looking at this industry from one angle. He built a residential spray foam operation into a large-scale commercial and federal contractor, moved into building-envelope assessment and repair, served on the SPFA Board and ultimately as SPFA President, and has spent years teaching contractors through the SPFA Professional Certification Program. Bob Duke_ Bio_ August, 2026
So we’re going to dig into the stuff that matters:
Training. Certification. Accountability. Technology. Validation. Industry growth.
What have we gotten right? Where are the gaps? What needs to change? And most importantly, how do we actually make those changes while thousands of contractors are out there working every single day?
This isn't a canned presentation. Bob is coming inside Think Spray Foam for a private, interactive conversation with our members. Bring your questions. Bring your experience. Bring a different opinion. That's the point.

Is Two Inches of Closed Cell Still the V***r Barrier Rule?

Why v***r barrier performance depends on the substrate and foam thickness together, plus why Canadian foams are colour coded and why every manufacturer should do the same.

SPRAY FOAM TECHNIQUE: THE DETAILS ARE THE JOB.

Anybody can point a spray gun at a wall and make foam.

But getting that foam where it NEEDS to be? That's where the difference between spraying foam and being a professional begins.

In this video, we're looking at real-world spray foam application. Wood-framed walls, vaulted ceilings, T-studs, roof assemblies, and post-frame metal buildings.

Different substrates. Different patterns. Different challenges.

One standard: The foam has to get where it belongs.

It doesn't matter how smooth your finished foam looks if you've missed the corners, skipped the edges, left voids behind the purlins, or failed to get proper coverage around the framing.
Nobody is paying you to make pretty foam.

They're paying you to deliver a building envelope that performs.

And here's the hard truth: You cannot inspect quality into a job after you've buried the mistakes.
The best installers understand that production speed and proper detailing aren't competing objectives. You develop the technique to accomplish BOTH.

You learn your gun. You understand your material. You recognize how the foam reacts to different substrates, temperatures, angles, and application patterns.

You get the foam behind the posts. You follow the ribs. You address the corners. You maintain proper thickness. And you understand WHY you're doing it.

That's what this video is about.

Not showing off. Not telling everybody there's only one way to spray.

It's about understanding what good technique looks like, why it works, and how to become a better installer.

Because the foam you DON'T install can be just as important as the foam you do.
If you're proud of your work, you should be willing to show it. And if you're serious about this trade, you should never stop learning.

Spray foam is a specialty product. Let's start treating the installation like the specialty trade it is.
PROOF NOT PROMISES.

THE FUTURE DIDN’T FAIL
Binks Is Leaving. Digital Ratio Control Isn’t.

LIVE — Thursday, September 24, 2026 at 8:00 PM Eastern
Streaming LIVE on YouTube, LinkedIn & Facebook

Binks has officially announced that it will discontinue the IS30, IS40 and ST1 product families and exit the foam contractor equipment business in 2026.

That's big news.

But does the exit of one manufacturer mean the technology failed?

We don't think so.

Join me LIVE with Trey Cook, founder and CEO of Akurate Dynamics, for a special State of the Spray Foam Industry conversation about what just happened—and, more importantly, what happens next.

We're going to talk about why digital ratio control matters, why major manufacturers pursued this technology in the first place, what Binks' departure means for contractors, and where spray foam equipment is actually headed.

We'll also get into the bigger picture: real-time monitoring, measurable ratio, digital controls, documented application, remote support, automation and accountability.

Akurate Dynamics began developing its approach more than a decade ago. Today, they're still building the equipment in Houston, still developing the technology, still supporting contractors—and still betting on a future where “trust me” is replaced by measurable proof.

This isn't a funeral for the industry.

And it's not about celebrating somebody else's exit.

It's about asking whether we're finally entering the next era of professional spray foam.

What worked?
What didn't?
What have we learned?
Where does Akurate go from here?
And where does the entire spray foam industry go next?

The future didn't fail. It's still being built.

🔥 TODAY’S THE DAY.

Trey Cook has a lot to say—and tonight we're giving him the floor.

We're going back to the beginning: the technology, who developed what, the corporate moves, the acquisitions, private equity, big money, and ultimately how we got to Binks exiting the spray foam contractor equipment business.

Trey has spent decades inside manufacturing and understands the corporate and investment world from a perspective most contractors never get to see.

So tonight we're going behind the headlines.

What happened? Why did it happen? What does it mean for contractors—and where does SPF equipment go from here?

No funeral for technology tonight.

🔥 THE FUTURE DIDN’T FAIL.

Join us LIVE tonight. Bring your questions.

🔥Thursday Sept 24 8 Pm Eastern

Thursday night, Trey Cook is ready to talk.

And we're going all the way back to the beginning.

Who developed what? Who entered the picture later? What changed when corporations and private equity got involved? Where did the money go? Why did decisions get made? And ultimately, how did we get to Binks exiting the spray foam contractor equipment business in 2026?

Trey plans to tell the story from his perspective as someone who lived it—the technology, the relationships, the corporate world, the money, the decisions and what happened behind the scenes.

Then we'll talk about what it means for Akurate, contractors and the future of SPF.

The Future Didn’t Fail. It’s Still Being Built.
