Recently, I met a couple who had a stone engraved with their family name. While visiting, they fell in love with one of our “Gone Fishing” stones—both were Christmas gifts. During our conversation, we started talking about the quarries behind us. The husband shared a fascinating story: he and a coworker had discovered part of a squid fossil just before it was crushed. The quarry boss sent the specimen to the ROM (Royal Ontario Museum) for dating, and then had the information sandblasted onto a stone now displayed at the quarry.

That’s when I informed him —I was the one who engraved that stone years ago! I had completely forgotten about that job until he mentioned it. It’s amazing to think how far and wide my work has traveled over the years.
