🚨 That Guy is Growing! 🚨

First off, thank you to everyone who continues to call, recommend, and support That Guy Contracting & Services. Because of you, things have been incredibly busy, and I truly appreciate every one of you. Your support has made it possible for That Guy to keep growing—and now it's time to add to the team!

I'm looking for a part-time team member who isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves and tackle whatever the day brings. The kind of person who always returns the cart.

One day you might be helping with renovations, the next cleaning a job site, mowing a lawn, pressure washing, organizing the shop, washing company vehicles, or doing whatever needs to be done to keep projects running smoothly. Every day is different, and that's exactly how I like it.
I'm looking for someone who:
✔️ Has a strong work ethic
✔️ Shows up on time
✔️ Is reliable and honest
✔️ Takes pride in doing quality work
✔️ Is willing to learn new skills
✔️ Isn't afraid to get dirty
✔️ Has a valid driver's licence (preferred)

Construction experience is an asset, but it's not a requirement. If you survived holding the flashlight for your dad without getting fired... you're probably already qualified. 😄 I'd rather hire someone with a great attitude who's eager to learn than someone who thinks they already know everything.
If you're looking for a part-time job where no two days are the same and you're always learning something new, this could be a great fit. As That Guy continues to grow, the right person will have the opportunity to grow with the company too.

From builder-basic to custom-built

This home is only three years old, but the living room was still missing a true focal point. The builder gave them a fireplace... we gave them a reason to gather around it.

The best part? My client admitted they've never had a TV in their living room in all of their adult life.
I'd say we solved two problems with one project.😄

This client was in need of some cedar siding replacement due to the original being dried out and failing. The railing was also broken on both sides where it mounted to the steps.

Replacement of the siding around the bay window after removal and inspection of the sheathing was completed and checked out.
The siding was stained and before I could get the railings reinstalled, the client asked me to sand and stain the rest of the siding on the other side of the door!
The railings got some new legs welded on, Lt. Dan, and they were secured back into the steps where they belong!

I was asked by this wonderful client for some help getting some renos taken care of!

A bunch of drywall repairs got taken care of, but not before some electrical upgrades to send power to heat trace lines to prevent ice damming, power run to the back door for block heaters, and even an RV receptical! Some other electrical wonders were solved, lights and switches installed that had left them in the dark, or having to shut the breaker off to turn off the light.
A doorway got opened up by removing an old frame, from a mere 27" opening to a whopping 31"!!
A new butcher block counter top was cut to surround the kitchen range and cover base cabinets.
A beefy butcher block shelf was constructed to mount an over the range microwave to.
A much needed custom fit door was installed on a bedroom.
A missing downspout was replaced so that the water was no longer draining into the ground next to the house.

The client got my name from attending a Prince George Cougars Game and saw the blimp!! How cool is that!!

🍂 ’Twas the season… for heights, leaf fights, and mild existential dread. 😅🍁🏠

Spent a long, long day wrangling gutters and installing leaf guards way up high—strapped into fall prevention gear that somehow made it feel safer and scarier all at once. Like, “yay, I won’t fall” but also “yikes, that’s a long way down.” 😬

And just to add a little drama? A full-blown snowstorm was headed straight for me. ❄️ Because why not clean gutters in the fall… while it’s falling… and fall is literally freezing me off the roof?

But hey—gutters are cleared, leaf guards are installed, and that snow? Bring it on.

💪 That Guy handled it all, one slippery leaf at a time.

📣 Lesson learned: Book these jobs sooner rather than later! We live up north—by October, it’s already getting cold, sketchy, and slippery for this kind of work. Plan ahead so That Guy doesn’t have to wrestle leaves AND frostbite. 😅
