🔥🔥🔥 This Port Coquitlam backyard had beautiful mature trees, but the aging timber retaining walls and tired landscape around them had reached the end of their life.

We preserved the mature trees and rebuilt the landscape around them—replacing the deteriorated timber with a new multi-level stone-finished retaining system, creating fresh decorative gravel beds, improving the soil, and introducing new hydrangeas for colour and softness. 🌿

The result? Same mature landscape, completely renewed character. 🏡

It started with a driveway that had seen better days… 🏚️➡️🏡

Cracked, deteriorated, and no longer doing justice to the home in Coquitlam, this old driveway was ready for a complete transformation.

We started by taking everything back to the foundation—removing the existing concrete, excavating and rebuilding the base, carefully setting the forms, and installing a reinforced structure designed to support the new driveway for years to come.

Then came the concrete.

But we didn’t want this to be just another grey driveway.

The exposed aggregate finish brings out the natural character of the stone, giving the surface texture, depth, and a distinctive look that changes beautifully with the light. We also extended the concrete walkway to create a seamless connection from the driveway to the front entrance.

From demolition → to preparation → to reinforcement → to the finished surface.

A driveway isn’t just where you park your car.

Kicking off a complete backyard overhaul! 🏗️

Check out the "before" on this new concrete paver patio project. The FROGS team is turning this grassy, root-filled area into a functional, clean outdoor living space.

Here is the plan:

🚫 Clear out: We are removing the old soil, tree roots, existing timber, and cantilevers to get a blank slate.
🛠️ Prep the Base: Excavating the area, adding layers of compacted road base, and installing permeable w**d suppressor fabric.
💧 Drainage First: Crucially, we are properly grading the ground away from the house before laying the final pavers.
✨ Finish Strong: Installing the new concrete pavers (securing the perimeter with concrete) and adding a brand new pathway from the deck to the front yard.
