So excited to make homemade butter the traditional way using a dasher butter churn!!! 🧈

This butter churn was hand made by a Cooper tradesman! Purchased from Townsends! Which by the way, have an incredible selection of historically accurate items!

Stay tuned.... I will be making homemade butter in the near future!

Happy Friday!

It's a cozy day on the homestead!

I've got the kettle on the woodstove, about to brew some homegrown spearmint tea from my garden! This is my handmade tin kettle from C&C Sutlery !

..Normally I would take the grate off to boil faster, however my kettle is a little too big to fit, so it just takes a little longer, but its worth the wait! ... This kettle is part of something exciting that is coming in the near future, that I can't wait to share with you - Keep in mind my love for the 1870's era! 😉

One of my favourite potato varieties because they're skins are sooo pretty!! These are called Purple Viking! 💜 The inside is pure white! They hold up well in storage and taste delicious!

Random Dahlia growing on our lawn! Guess I dropped a tuber on the way to the garden back in the spring and it decided to grow here! And it dodged old jack frost!

Turns out the squash bugs, squash vine borer and cucumber bettles were kind enough to leave me a few pumpkins, 3 gourds and 2 winter squash!

It's been a challenging year! One of my worst years for gardening, I had just about every garden pest there is!
🐌🐜🪲🪳🦗🐜🐦‍⬛🐾🐀🐇🦨🦝
. except for the tomato hornworms! 🍅🐛

it was quite dry and humid and an over abundance of weeds! 🌾🌿🌱

However, despite all the garden pests, all the weeds and the weather, I can't complain God Blessed me with another harvest, enough to carry my family through the winter months. 🙏 💗

Tomorrow is decorating day, getting ready for Thanksgiving weekend!! 🍂 🎃 Homemade Pumpkin Pie from homegrown pumpkin! Fresh herbs from my garden to season the chicken and stuffing! Homegrown squash, carrots, beets, potatoes and cabbage! Yum!
