What a semester. 🎓🚁

Back in the summer, I was asked if I’d consider developing and teaching an RPAS course for the Trent University Master of Forensic Science program.

I remember feeling equal parts excited and terrified. I loved the research I was doing, and I loved exploring how drones can support K9 HRD searches and clandestine grave investigations—but could I turn that passion into a course that would genuinely serve future forensic professionals?

The answer: absolutely.

I’m grateful I took the leap into the academic world. It’s been rewarding, humbling, and energizing.

Happy Birthday to this old mutt... RiRi is 12 years young today!
Riot has been retired for 3+ years and is enjoying the good life. He sleeps anywhere he wants, gets lots of treats, loads of love, goes for walks, and is generally spoiled in every way possible.
He worked hard his entire life as a police dog... I love that he's just a dog with his family now.

What a great conference! Passionate K9 folks sharing their love and knowledge.

Definitely motivated today coming off a great weekend of learning & networking! I’ve been to many conferences, seminars & trainings in my life both professionally (non-profit industry) & personally (canine & equine) and some attendees are reluctant to share best practices for fear knowledge will be stolen. It was so refreshing to see & hear open, encouraging dialogue at LEADS! As someone making a huge pivot in my life opening a canine training business, the topics were all applicable, the speakers supportive & generous and the attendees equally open & non-competitive.
