Happy to share this one! There's still a few minor touch ups and adjustments to do at a later date but otherwise this kitchen reno is done! It's part restoration and part new.

This rental suite was pretty bare beforehand, there were a couple small upper cabinets above the sink before I took a picture and not much else. Now it's fully stocked!

Most of the cabinets are reclaimed from an old home but I built a few, built some new doors and built all the wooden shelves for it. The list of challenges on this job were too many to list but the list of lessons, even longer.

Thank you so much to the homeowner for the opportunity and hospitality! It's not a perfect job but for where I'm at in my journey, it was perfect for me.

Sweet little dry stone masonry and landscaping job!
There wasn't much going on next to this wood fired cedar hot tub. A nice concrete pad with a questionable dry stone wall around the back half and some overgrown grass.

I got rid of the old wall and cut in a little gravel pad. I built a new dry stone retaining wall and extended it into the pad. Put a couple big flat stones as footings for a bench and filled the rest with nice, round little river rock gravel! All the stone used was harvested from the property and gravel from the nearby lake. No quarries were involved. There was quite the variety of stones including very dense and round, so I did my best to incorporate them without shaping them too much. Shaped a bit of stone but I tried to keep it as natural as possible!

I'm stoked with how it came out! I feel like it opens up and adds a lot to the hot tub area!

Tiles done! After a couple delays it has been completed. This was a special request job for somebody I have a lot of love and gratitude for.

I'm stoked with how it came out! It blends in together well with the fireplace and the logs, lots of dark earthy colors. It's solid! I'm proud of this!

Finished the bathroom door! Cedar frame with birch plywood panels. It ended up a little quirky with the different colours of cedar but it's something I like about it. Cedar has many faces and I love playing with that!

This is my first fully custom door made from scratch and I enjoyed the process. It's far from perfect. I'm still getting the hang of totally seamless glued joints and perfectly even finish all over but for my first one I am real pleased! Here's to more!

Chimney masonry repair! This was just a patch job and some repointing. First time in a harness in 4 years and first time with this model harness. Still feeling it out but was great to get up there and get it done. Getting the hang of my masonry set up on the roof as well! The sky was on my side providing me with cool wind, cool clouds and cool birds singing their hearts out! Loved doing this!

It's quite a challenge maintaining rooftop balance while also keeping the job somewhat clean, shaping stones and applying mortar accurately all at the same time. There's a certain sequence to everything and none of the steps can be skipped. It takes patience and precision but also some nerve! It's by no means perfect but for a patch job it went well. Looking forward to the next chimney repair! Reach out for inspections!

P.S. Yes, I am fall protection certified

I figured it was about time to show my face. I'm Simon Fraser, owner and operator of Fraser Maintenance.

It's already been quite the journey so far with this business. I could have never imagined the twists and turns in these early stages. Even through the scary and difficult times, I wouldn't change a thing.

I am beyond excited to be where I'm at today and to be able to share my love of building, restoring and creating with my community! Here's to life!

Finally sharing the finish carpentry! There's a couple little touch ups and clean up to do but since it's 99% done I figured I would share. I am stoked with how it came out! Thank you to the legend Glen Foy for the opportunity!

There were some solid challenges rebuilding this old bathroom. Uneven ceiling, bowed floors and trim around logs.

I have been so blessed to have the opportunity to have creative freedom with this project. I milled the fir down from rough sawn lumber and repurposed the cedar from the old paneling. It was a great experience processing all the trim with the router, sanding and staining everything. I love the trim, I love the casing and I love the countertop. Nothing fancy or exotic, just quality local lumber put together with love!

I enjoyed every part of it and as my first professional finish carpentry project, I am proud!

Just finished a masonry repair on a retaining wall! This is a wall that's sitting along the door of an old school cold storage cellar. The door was blocked when I got there and the entryway was a mess with big collapsed chunks of cemented stones.

A big part of this job was dirt removal and replacing with medium to small stones to massively increase drainage so the mortar in the wall doesn't get soaked and also so it doesn't have to hold up hundreds of pounds of saturated and frozen dirt for long periods of times.

I'm pleased with how this turned out! It's much more functional, safe and resilient to the elements now.

Did an adorable little brick masonry job in Creston! Thanks to Sue Creswell for the opportunity.

I loved this job! Her and her partner purchased reclaimed clay bricks from an old building in Calgary and wanted to put them to use on the property. It's a simple step down brick wall to give the arbor a pad so the grapes can climb on it and give structure for the gravel to hold planter pots along the driveway!

I laid the bricks on strips of good quality galvanized wire fencing for proper foundation structure similar to rebar on a concrete pad, to help hold all the mortar together through frost cycles. There was a good amount of back fill, gravel leveling and shaping to do to make this a nice level step down wall with proper drainage and it worked! So stoked!

Drywall and painting done on the bathroom reduild! I finished hooking up the tub shower combo and got right to hanging drywall.

It turned out solid! I was mostly concerned about how the logs across the ceiling would look but it looks good! A little bit more clean up and then for the finale. A bit of tiling and then my favourite, the finish carpentry!
