Melted outdoor GFCI
Hi everyone, just a reminder to check your outside plugs this summer for damage or wear! This receptacle had a worn gasket and water got in behind, melting the receptacle and causing quite a bit of damage around the receptacle on the siding!
If you are checking visually make sure the gasket creates a tight seal, also keep the cover closed when not in use! The best outdoor GFCI say WR somewhere on the face(weather resistant)! They have extra coating to protect the internal circuitry from the elements!
If you do see damage please contact a certified electrician! If you choose to perform the task yourself please ensure the power is off!
