Important questions to ask when getting quotes to seal coat your driveway:

1. How will you be applying the product, do you guarantee that the product won't end up on my house, garage, or lawn? In most cases, residential driveways should be brushed, not sprayed. It takes longer and uses more product, but it will usually be longer lasting, have cleaner edges and no chance of over spray on your house when compared to being sprayed on. Spraying is best for larger parking lots, not small driveways.

2. Are you local? This is very important as it's hard to get an out of town company to come back and fix poor workmanship once they have your money. It's just not worth saving $100 if you have to pay for the job to be re done or for your garage door to be professionally cleaned.

3. How long have you been in business? How many years of application experience does the crew have that will be doing my driveway? You want to make sure that the money your spending is going to be applied properly and with attention to detail.

4. Lastly, to be real sure, you can ask to see other driveways that they have done in your area. If the company is good and reputable, they should be able to provide at least a few examples for you to drive by and look at in your area.

Asking these questions ahead of time will greatly reduce your chances of being scammed by a fly by night company passing through town or help you to avoid a local company that does shoddy work.

☀️ With the sunshine returning and spring just around the corner, we’re getting a lot of questions about seal coating. While it’s great to start thinking about protecting your driveway, it’s still a little too early in the season to apply sealer just yet. Proper seal coating requires warm daytime temperatures **and** overnight temperatures that stay warm enough for the sealer to cure correctly. Applying it too early can lead to poor bonding and reduced durability.

The good news is that NOW is the perfect time to get a quote and get on our schedule! Customers who book early get priority service once temperatures are right and seal coating season officially begins. A little planning now means a protected, great-looking driveway as soon as the season starts!

A CAUTIONARY TALE:
If you are about to make a decision on who to chose for your driveway maintenance in Kamloops it is important to do your homework on who you will trusting to complete the work! Our best suggestion is to at least choose a local company.... and no, Kelowna isn't local. Pick someone who will follow up when the job is done and not ask for payment until you, the customer, are satisfied! Ask how they apply the product you are purchasing. Do they come in and spray it on real quick or take their time applying it by hand and paying attention to each detail of your driveway? Do they use the right product for the job or the cheapest option that won't last?

In the past two weeks we have fixed multiple jobs done by an out of town company who is trying to make a quick buck here in Kamloops. From thin, ugly coats of sealer, to pothole repairs that you could take the material out of with your hands. We wish these customers had found us first, but they didn't and ended up paying much more than planned in the end. The lure of saving $100 by going with the cheapest quote may be tempting, but it is rarely worth it as you are sacrificing quality.

The picture below is of a patch job done with inferior product that should have never been used. It didn't cure and ended up sticking to the customers vehicle. We took all of the patches out and replaced them for this customer.

"My driveway is only a couple years old, I don't need to seal coat it yet".....
We hear this often but it couldn't be further from the truth. Starting a maintenance plan for your driveway early is the key to keeping it smooth and reducing the amount of cracks it will develop over time. If you start seal coating while your driveway is still in good shape, you "lock in" that good condition for a long time instead of waiting for it to start to get rough, by that time it can't be brought all the way back to that really nice surface it once had.
It's best to apply the first coat of sealer when your asphalt is approximately one year old. Lock in that beauty while it is still there :)
