Photo #1 illustrates a common error repeatedly found on steel roof installations.
(A) if a rigid flashing is used the sheets need to be split and the under sheet needs to extend at least 16 inches under the overlapping sheet
(B) a roof flashing designed for a steel roof needs to be installed ( the flashing in photo #1 is designed for an asphalt roof)
Photo #2 illustrates a retrofit steel roof flashing that resembles something out of Frankenstein. Despite its appearance, it is specially designed to contour over profile ribs and create a waterproof and ice resilient barrier.
