Hanging Baskets, Community Pride

While most of the Region of Queens was asleep, the ATR crew was already hard at work.

Overnight, our team installed hanging flower baskets throughout the community and began the ongoing watering and maintenance program. From unloading and installation to late-night watering runs, a great deal of work happens behind the scenes.

We understand the importance of these baskets to residents, businesses, and visitors. They add colour, character, and pride to our downtowns and public spaces. Our goal is simple: make the most of every basket and help them look their best through the busiest part of the summer season.

Throughout the summer, ATR Arborist Services Inc. will be providing weekly evening watering and ongoing care to support these displays. Many of these watering runs will take place after regular business hours when traffic is lighter and temperatures are cooler, allowing us to give the flowers the attention they need.

Our role is to provide the ongoing care and attention these baskets need within the scope of the program, helping them look their best throughout the season.

If you happen to see the ATR trucks out in the evening caring for the baskets, be sure to give us a wave. We are proud to be part of this project and we appreciate the opportunity to assist the Region of Queens with the installation.

A big thank you to our crew for another late night and early morning getting the job done safely and professionally.

We are proud to share that 2 members of our team are taking the next steps in their professional development through the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA).

Owner Anthony, ISA Certified Arborist, has been approved for enrollment in the ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ) program—an advanced credential focused on tree risk evaluation, hazard assessment, and defensible decision-making.

Apprentice Brandon has officially begun his journey toward becoming an ISA Certified Arborist by joining as an ISA member, further strengthening the expertise available to our clients and communities.

These milestones reflect our ongoing commitment to professional excellence, safety, and science-based tree care. While many companies stop at the chainsaw level we continue to invest in industry-recognized credentials, advanced training, and the latest arboricultural best practices.

As our company grows, so does our knowledge ensuring we continue to provide the highest level of service possible to homeowners, businesses, municipalities, and property managers across Nova Scotia.

A Project In Time

Some projects don’t end when the last tree comes down.

These photos tell the story of a property transformation that ATR Arborist Services Inc. began 1 year ago. The original mature maple trees had reached the growing space and were removed due to condition concerns. Stumps were ground, the site was restored, and the property was prepared for the future.

Today, we returned to complete the final chapter.

Three professionally selected Sugar Maple trees have now been planted, bringing this landscape full circle. What was once an aging canopy has become the foundation for a new generation of healthy trees that will provide shade, beauty, wildlife habitat, and environmental benefits for decades to come.

One of the most rewarding parts of arboriculture is seeing the long-term results. Anyone can remove a tree. A true arborist thinks about what comes next.

Proper species selection, planting depth, root flare placement, mulching, staking, and aftercare all play a role in determining whether a tree thrives or merely survives. These details matter, and they are why we approach every planting with the same level of professionalism as a complex removal.

The best tree work isn’t always about what comes down. Sometimes it’s about what gets planted for the future.

We look forward to watching these Sugar Maples grow and becoming part of this property’s story for generations to come.
