Cape Breton Classes are OPEN FOR REGISTRATION! Exciting news indeed…After a very long winter, we’re pleased to announce our Summer/Fall class schedule is now open. Join me for a day class or a week long course here at my shop in Cape Breton. Lots of great options to choose from and if your scheduling doesn’t work, I’m also offering private classes for individuals or small groups. Dates, times and topics are extremely flexible. Join me for traditional hand tool woodworking, a fantastic way to spend a day. Class sizes are limited so check out the Unplugged Woodshop website for details. Hope to see you soon!

Meet “Rylan”, named the guitar after its new owner… Swiss moon spruce top, bog oak back and sides, mahogany neck with pale moon ebony fretboard. This project was an amazing journey using such fine materials. The guitar is very responsive and balanced. I’m extremely happy with the result. Thanks to my mentor and friend .guitars for the advice along the way … and thanks to for putting his trust in my abilities. The journey is the destination. Custom guitar build. Swiss moon spruce top, bog oak back and sides… pale moon ebony fretboard. Guitar build update: the top is glued and the back is dry fit and pre-finished on the inside. Some things to note…. The guitar sides have bog oak on the exterior with mahogany on the inside. The rims are also mahogany and the bridge and neck patches are made from local Birdseye maple. Seeing the inside with a light finish is a nice foreshadow of how the outside will eventually look! The guitar top is some amazing Swiss “moon” spruce. My client wanted F holes so the bracing inside is fairly unique. The last shot shows the top backlit on my workbench. Nice how you can see the bracing pattern within as the spruce is thin enough to be somewhat translucent. Still lots to do but we’re getting there-;) stay tuned….
