Well, winter seems to be on the wind down, the snowmobiles are tucked away which left the workshop with lots of working space! Just so happend to be that my sister reached out asking if i could make a Montessori Bed for her youngest. Well a trip to the lumber store and a week and a half later it was done. Got the pictures of it all assembled in its home!

This would be the 2nd bed I have made, years ago I made a murphy bed and that was quite the unit!

Worked on a prototype piece for the kitchen, will see how that one turns out!

If you have any projects or ideas you'd like to see come to life, please dont hesitate to reach out!

Well, dipped the ol big toe into the waters of epoxy tables.

Back in the last few days of summer a friend of mine asked me if I could do epoxy tables. I said its something im interested in, what do you have in mind?

Well he gives me this stump, now its walnut, the inclusions and shapes were beautiful. The core wood on one was heart shaped, which is why his wife wanted a table made out of it. I was able to get 3 slabs from this stump, and after an ungodly amount of milling, prep work and last minute double checking research, I was ready to pour, which for a first time making a mold, no leaks were had!!! Everything set and cured great. And after a half a day flattening the table tops and another day sanding and finishing, we have these beauties.

This year has been unreal for Ten Mile Woodworking, from starting small, to a christmas mad dash to finish gifts, selling cutting boards left right and centre, to a quick fun resto project culminating in taking all the skills I've learned and continue to learn to level up to epoxy table work. Thank you to those who've supported this venture with me, to those in the future!

Im taking a break from the saws, tools and sanders for a bit. Look for a restock of wood from local suppliers, enjoy the holidays with the family and plan projects for the next year to come.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from us here at Ten Mile Woodworking

A couple weeks ago someone contacted me; asking if id be interested in sanding and refinishing the wood pieces from a grape crusher. I took the project on, and my word, what a treat it was to do. The wood had layers upon layers of grape juice already stained into the wood. Truly showing its age and generations of family wine making.

Once we were down to the original wood layer, it was time to stain. There was only one stain I was going to use, cabernet, to give those pieces the look of having crushed grapes, and beeswax to seal everything in for a dull sheen.

After the hustle and bustle of yesterday's family christmas, it was a quiet day. Put some finish on a custom project to get that wrapped up before an epoxy pour. I got a little crafty and whipped up a faux christmas planter. I thought it turned out pretty good. There's a young lad outside Ilderton selling real branches for planters with a portion going to charity. I might have to swing by and grab some for that fresh woody festive smell

Well guys, its been a while since I posted; and. I figure i should give an update as to why its been a while, and where we are at currently.

Late summer I was on vacation trying to catch some fish to use on a product I was super keen on launching! But just couldn't lure in them big ol fish for pictures!! I had whipped up a fish filleting board, made of a beautiful piece of walnut and sealed just like the cutting boards with food safety top of mind.

Then in September it was peak show season for 4-H in Middlesex County, and as a dairy club volunteer, and President of the County association, I was busy, busy busy.

After getting back into the rhythm of things after Middlesex 4-H's County Show, I received a phone call I knew was coming, but still never wanted to hear. It was the call to come home as my Grandpa had passed away. So celebrating the long life he lived and sending him and Grandma to their final resting place took some time and alot of reflection. Grandpa was the one who taught me how to use a table saw and how to use a square to make the perfect cut, so Woodworking lately had been both tough and therapeutic lately.

But now winter is here, we are almost a year into this journey. Ill admit, this year was full of twists and turns for trying to run a small business on the side. So it was let's take things back to the start and come full circle.

The Christmas season is great for cutting boards, stock has been selling fairly steady now. They do make great gifts!!!

Working on two custom projects at the moment; trying my hand for the first time at some epoxy tables for a friend and the second project is a restoration job for a fella who's looking to have his family's grape crusher shined up.

Just had a family christmas dinner today, and the Turkey was the star of the show accompanied by a Ten Mile Elm serving tray!

Thank you all for a great year and can't wait to share some of the new works coming down the pipe in the next little while.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and Happy New Year

Just putting the last coat of finish on a commission from Schrams Car Care, for their giveaway. I thought it would be a great time to introduce the brand of Ten Mile Woodworking.

**the intense Yellowstone intro plays now**
**Kevin Costners voice now fills your head**

The brand is something you live up to, its your word in this world; it's your legacy.

All of the stuff I make at Ten Mile Woodworking will carry its brand. Meaning it carries a story of learning curves, measuring twice to cut once, developing and refining skills, many hours of sanding and sore backs from layering a smooth finish.

It's what makes the guarantee on the yearly free refreshing on the cutting boards.

It's also super fun heating a piece of metal and searing your logo into something!

Check out Schrams Car Care to see what's in the giveaway and how you could win!!!

New Product!!!!

Got a knife set so beautiful, you just feel guilty and shameful putting them into a regular, boring old knife block? Yeah me too.

Thats why I worked this beautiful piece up. I can display my knives when not in use, letting them sparkle and shine, but also kept at an arms reach and quick.

Made from Ash, a hardwood with long curvy edge grains, and a live edge that tells a story. Ash makes a beautiful background on any knife from shining stainless steel to flashy Damascus.

These are available by order, message today for your sizing needs and pricing!

Well its been a while since I last posted. It's been an odd summer, with the weather patterns in the spring made for a drastically busy summer at the farm. So much so that I found it hard to find some time, motivation or even a cool afternoon to work on projects.

But, now with the chaos all organized, and caught up i was able to hammer out some projects!!!! First up, our first batch of cutting boards are available for purchasing!!!!

The first project that started it all at Ten Mile Woodworking! Our cutting boards are made out of live edge Elm, a perfect wood for cutting boards. Elm is a hardwood that is durable and just looks absolutely brilliant finished. The grain of the wood just jumps right at you! Keeping up with our motto of locally and sustainably sourced wood, this elm wood was sourced just outside of Bright Ontario, from a fellas who got into milling wood from his estate as a retirement hobby.

Now for the technical bit about our boards; the boards are elm wood, sanded down and finished with 2 coatings of butcher block oil, and finished off with a coat of beeswax making the ultimate food safe wood finish! Handles on the sides for easy moving, and feet to keep from slipping on your countertop!

Cutting boards purchased from Ten Mile Woodworking come with a yearly refreshing. Once a year I will take your board, sand the cutting surface smooth and refinish it free of charge to ensure your board is as fresh as possible and lasts you a lifetime!

I have 12 ready for their new homes!

Prices range from $20 to $45 depending on size

Stay tuned for other projects coming down the pipe!

Cluttered cabinets are my biggest pet peeve! Especially the pot and pan cabinet. Opening the door and waiting if the avalanche of pots, pans, lids and mixing bowls happens for the umpteenth time.

I had some pieces of cherry kicking around, and decided to add a few simple hooks, hang on the wall and boom! The pots and pans hang on the wall by the stove, and I don't have them falling on my toes anymore!

Contact us if you'd like to clean up and free up some cabinet space from the horde of clunky pots and pans in your kitchen! We can make them out of any type of wood, long or shot, live edge or milled straight!
