Margaret Newton applied to study agriculture at McGill in the early 1900s. McGill admissions told her “Sorry, no women were successful in that course.” Once Margaret was eventually accepted at McGill, she went on to become the first woman to earn a Ph.D. in agriculture. Later known as an international expert on wheat rust, Margaret saved Canada millions of dollars in crop losses. 🌾🇨🇦
