Why did I go from having an aquarium to building a pond? Less maintenance, less water changes. The water will be more favorable for the fish since the amount of rocks and plants help finish the entire water filtration process. Another of my favorite things to watch is how the pond ecosystem matures and changes in relation to the season and weather conditions.
