With practise, a guy can rip pretty good with the smallest of gouging rods at 260amps. I never use bigger than a 3/16. It won’t beat a 3/8 as far as speed goes. But for the small-scale, one man operation, with a limited equipment budget: If the timeframe allows for an extra few swipes, your equipment will thank you in the long run.
