Frost is a coming… Mom and I raced to the farm to cut, collect seeds, tag dahlias and get all those priority things done before some (dahlias & zinnias) get zapped. Since my Mom flew from out west where they already had a deep freeze, I really wanted her to see all the flowers before they were gone.

DIY wedding flowers

This was Saturday morning, the bride, her mom and her sister came out to the flower field and spent a couple of hours cutting flowers for the wedding.

They knew what they were looking for, and it was really nice to watch them move through the field with confidence — choosing flowers, cutting stems and finding blooms that fit their wedding colours and the colours of their venue.

They were excited to be doing this themselves. To actually come into the field, choose their flowers and create the collection they would take to make their own wedding bouquets.

There was something really special about watching them work together…just the quiet rhythm of walking the rows, finding the right flowers and making their choices.

From my perspective, there was a real sense of appreciation and authenticity in what they were doing. They genuinely wanted to be part of the process and use locally grown flowers for their wedding.

And they were so happy with what they found — all those colours and flowers coming together in a way that felt just right for their day.

That’s what I love about a DIY wedding flower bucket.

You get to come into the field, choose your flowers, and be part of creating something that is completely your own.

Can’t wait to see all the pictures of what they created for their wedding day!

Farm fresh bouquets THE MARKET ELORA today.
Gotta say that I love morning drop offs at the market… when you can see the unique setting in all its totality… music blaring, planters popping with greenery, splash of color with annuals and hidden little gems of the artistic talent.
I’m happy to be adding a little more splash of fresh color!

Replenishing the flowers today Elora Brewing Company and a staff member came running up to me to show how last weeks flowers enticed a and this is where it remained. How freakin cool is that!!!?? We calling it the The Elora Brew Dragonfly! You know you have an awesome, welcoming restaurant when dragonflies even come to visit.
After seeing all the monarchs in the flower field this morning, maybe they hitched a ride and are enjoying the flowers, good food, good music, good people of .

What keeps me growing flowers isn’t always about sharing the beauty with people.

It isn’t always about the business, or the hard work, or seeing an idea come to life, or experimenting with something new.

Sometimes it’s just this.

Standing in the field and watching a hummingbird hawk moth move from flower to flower.

And suddenly being reminded of all the things happening here that have nothing to do with me.

The bees. The butterflies. The moths. The birds. All these little creatures quietly going about their lives, finding food, doing their work, keeping this little ecosystem alive.

Things we so often take for granted.

And today, for whatever reason, I needed to see this one.

Maybe that’s part of why I keep doing this.

Because every once in a while, the field gives something back.

A tiny moment that makes me stop what I’m doing and just watch.

A reminder that beauty isn’t always something we create.

Sometimes it’s something we’re lucky enough to notice.

And sometimes it shows up right when we need it.

Medieval Faire in Fergus was a highlight of my summer so far… And my most favorite moment was when this little girl picked out her dried flower crown and wanted to wear it right then and there! What an amazing event with so many people (vendors, visitors, young and old) who for a time traded the modern world for a journey back to medieval times.

It was surreal first thing this morning to see and hear the sounds of the honey bees doing their thing with the fresh lavender blooms. Sometimes I am in so much awe with what I get to see and experience in the gardens.
Even though honey bees are not aggressive, we decided any weeding around the lavender was not a priority right now. The bees were the priority. At the end of our garden work, we just wanted to sit in the pool … smell the lavender and listen to the soft hum of the bees.
Thanks for the use of the pool and having dreamy and purposeful gardens that I get to be apart of. chartrand

I grow color… I like variety of colors… every spectrum … blues are my favorite… but not many to be had in the natural flower world… pastels, whites, pinks, yellows, purples, reds … you name it… it’s all beautiful to me!

Working in the flower field today and I noticed one little calf in the tall grass in the field next to me continuously falling down. Curious, I went to see what was up… and it was a new one that was just born. What a privilege… to watch it all unfold. I love how all the other community of cows surrounded her! Celebrating and protecting her!
The sacredness and spirit of new life always touches the human soul!
