Our technicians spent the evening receiving industry training from Hoshizaki representatives on how to properly service and maintain their Ice machines!

These machines need to be cleaned and sanitized every 3 - 6 months depending on the water quality of your area. As we all know the water in Edmonton is very hard and contains high amounts of calcium and magnesium. The issue with that when it comes to ice machines is that when water is frozen to produce ice, the calcium and magnesium solidify into tiny particles of calcium carbonate forming a hard, crusty layer. This buildup can hinder the performance of your ice machine leading to reduced ice production, decreased energy efficiency, and potential damage to internal components.

As stated in the presentation today, Ice is food, so you need to keep in mind the cleanliness of the ice that you are giving out to your customers and hold it to the same standard as every other ingredient in your restaurant.
