Some interesting history of a country called Japan lol
Cannabis has a long history in Japan, originating as an early cultivated plant during the Jōmon period for fibers used in clothing, cordage, and Shinto rituals. It was a staple for fabric and food for centuries until the Meiji period, when cotton became the primary fiber crop due to industrialization. Today, while psychoactive cannabis remains illegal and stigmatized, industrial h**p is still recognized for its historical and practical uses, as highlighted by the existence of a dedicated Cannabis Museum in Japan.
Japan has some of the strictest anti-cannabis laws in the world.
Punishment for possession is a maximum 5 years behind bars and illicit growers face 7-year sentences. Annually around 2000 people fall foul of these laws – their names splashed on the nightly news and their careers ruined forever. The same prohibition that dishes out these punishments also bans research into medical ma*****na, forcing Japanese scientists overseas to conduct their studies.
This plant is the most misunderstood, punished plant in all the herbalism world
