Vendor feature: KmjKennedy Art creates original multimedia artwork and prints. They love being outside in nature, learning about native plants and building their perennial herb garden for teas.

Their style ranges from contemporary to abstract with a sprinkle of illustrations. They use colour, line, and texture for visual interest in their art of nature, mythical beings, and/or portraits of varying subjects. They play around with multiple forms of media to create their art.

Fun fact: Frogs have always been a cute little interest since they were a kid growing up in the country, stop by and ask for a funny story from their childhood 🤭

Visit them and 80+ vendors at the Naturecore Expo on Saturday, October 24th from 11AM-5PM at the Event Centre in North East River Valley Park in Edmonton.

The season is coming upon us! I have 3 solstice themed greeting cards available at the Made With Magic Market this weekend in Red Deer!
Saturday 1pm - 6pm
Sunday 12pm - 4pm

These are great "christmas" cards without them being christmas-ey for all of my off beat pals, or just because you like the print. I kept the card empty for your own choose your own adventure!

☆ Each greeting card has hand embellished gold accents on them! Scanners do not like picking up gold accents, so I add them by hand after print! ☆

Nothing like having a market coming up to get my creative drive MOVING.
I have already said in a previous post that this painting has been sitting in my creative space for so long, just untouched. I could hear it sadly whispering to me to bring it to life, but I was stuuuuuuuuuck on it mentally about making sure it was following "art rules" and when that happens, I have to not touch it because it becomes creating out of perfectionism instead of creative flow. Sorry, not sorry for the world's longest run on sentence.

I don't know how many know this but I took many studio art courses in university. I REALLY wanted to pursue a degree in Fine arts as well as be an art educator, but I had a baby and needed to finish my education degree first. While at university, I learned that sometimes having so much information and rules for creating "great art" really messed(es) with me. I have always made my best art when I didn't over think art rules and let my intuition guide me, because there truly are no rules when it comes to making great art, as long as you are MAKING ART.

So a reminder for myself and anyone else who needs this reminder... make the art and don't worry too much if it's bad or not, or follows "great art making" rules; at least you're not using AI to make it.

Do I have all the commas and punctuation correct? I don't know. ELA was never my strength, creative writing was. Go figure.

Honestly, for too long. This painting has sat for months and months and months, and for probably over a year in my creative space. Tonight I finally had the energy to work on it and had that creative buzzing in my body that won't leave until I get it out. Tonight it chose this painting.

It's still not finished but I have a feeling it will be done soon. Maybe you will get to see it at the Made With Magic Market this weekend in Red Deer!

Felt cute AF and was wearing some good small business made accessories and wanted to share!

Agate? and clear quartz? necklace: Obscura Incognita Inc. Karla hand made all of her wedding guests jewelry and other accessories for both her Ontario and Edmonton wedding. The labour and love poured into each design was felt and seen. I recieved this necklace at their Ontario wedding 🥰

Acorn glasses chain: Rainey is my go to gal for my glasses bling, I love her designs so much. It's also about time I get a new pair 👀 I have my eyes on those candy corns, students are also requesting I get a pair with flowers.

Snake vertabrae earings: BelovedDominion I was vending next to Jo Purple City Music Festival and fell IN LOVE with these earings she made with snake vertebrae and had to get them. 🐍To be honest, I fell in love with a lot of Jo's collection of treasures. Highly recommend.

I love my collection of jewelry and accessories. I figure it's now 90% or more from hand made local artisans. Maybe this is my sign that I need to step up my day to day outfit game, because I love to get creative with them, and I have such wonderful things to accessorize with.

Fun fact, I've been a Buffy fan since 1997. Whipped this cosplay up for The Edmonton Expo this morning from my closet and Aaron Petersen made me the stake this morning too! I was going to make one out of a paper towel roll and this guy makes me a real life cedar stake. 🙌🏻

I can have mixed feelings when an original finds it's new home. Some are easier to let go than others. Some paintings I make, and then I meet someone and I KNOW they are meant for them. This original I had contemplated not selling and I reminded myself that I shouldn't hoard my art like a dragon. My partner often gets attached to my artwork and says "YOU SOLD THAT ONE!?" Because he loves it a lot, but then is also happy I sold a piece of art.

He was actually the one that sold this piece while I was off exploring. I am sad I missed meeting the person who purchased her. If you (the person who bought this piece) see this post, please let me know, I'd love to connect!

I will be at Purple City Music Festival tomorrow at Freemasons Hall Edmonton from 2pm-7pm! It's the last day to find some treasures you didn't know or did know you were looking for!
