I’m selling my General International Hollow Chisel Mortiser as I’ve had it for years and I’ve never used it. this is the tilt head model. To say it’s in new condition is an understatement. If you’d like any additional photos/information just let me know.
Price is $800. Here are a few pictures.

As all of you out there who are fellow woodworkers know if something can be made out of wood we’re going to take a stab at doing it. Hence the project I’ve just finished that hold my iPhone where it can be hooked up for Apple play and my Jesus Big travel mug. The mug is about 5 inches across the bottom.
Here’s a couple of photos of it in action. I have an 05 Chevy avalanche, and I made it so it just sits on top of the existing cupholders with nothing but gravity holding it in place and it works perfectly.

I’ve had tropical fish going back to the 60s but Life had gotten too busy/weird/who knows what and up until about three years ago I did not have any fish in my home. However, since then I’ve gotten right back into it and they now have Four tanks up and running? three of the tanks required new aquarium stands and covers. And for the first time ever, I have stacked two of them. The 33 gallon sits on top of the 40 gallon and I’m quite happy with the results. Here’s a few pictures.

Hey y’all! I’m finally getting my procrastinating butt in gear and I’ll have my next School of Quiet Woodworking course syllabus out in the next two weeks. Here, I’m asking all of you (just topped 1100 followers) for some feed back on who would like to attend a course or two? Remember, I’m located in Cochrane Alberta.
I’ve just taken on a 55p serving tray commission and while not large it’s at least a little renumerative. Here’s the first prototype. 13” x 7” x 5/8” made out of spruce. Nice and light for the servers to carry to the table all day long. it’s getting two coats of Osmo coffee tint followed by two coars of Osmo Polyx. Also, 25 will have a 1/8” deep area to stop the burning hot lasagna bowls from sliding onto the floor.

So Sherry, my partner of 25 years is also a musician (flute guitar and piano) and she’s been operating without a music stand. She found the top half of one and asked me if I’d make a base for it. “Of course, no problem” said the resident woodworker. That was over two years ago and guess what? I actually built it on the weekend. Built out of spruce. The figuring out the various angles turned out to be quite enjoyable. Of course there were no power tools injured in the completion of this project. A newly, perfectly sharpened #5 1/2 Lie Nielsen Jack Plane is truly a thing of beauty, and a joy to use. Here’s the build;

So I’ve finished a small project for the house. Hardly requiring a lot of skill or time but as I’ve been procrastinating on it for 25 years, yup, really! It’s nice to have it finished. So, ladies and gentlemen I give you the towel rack in the 1/2 bath on the main floor. Ta Da! And wonder of wonders I didn’t have to buy and wood for the entire project.😁
stay tuned for an update on my latest reflex deflex long bow. I’m finally going to get around to finishing it after an hiatus of over a year.

And last but not least the most amazing piece of ash I have ever seen. When the oil finish hit it the chatoyance exploded right off the wood. I’m a better woodworker than I am a videographer so please bear with me. ( all video tips greatly appreciated)

The ongoing saga of the boot jack build continues. I’m delivering 75 more today and 75 more on Friday which will then be 540 built and delivered since June. Here are a few pictures of the current pieces. I will be posting two short videos right after this post. The first one shows (and I describe) the four jigs that I have come up with and modified to get to the functionality that I need for this kind of production. The second video is a piece of plebeian ash with more chatoyance then I have ever seen in anything but the most expensive Bubinga.

Here it is completed and with the third shelf installed. I’m very happy with the end result even allowing for a whoops in getting the centre shelf into position. I completely forgot that if you make a shelf to go in after everything is together it needs to be tilted to get into place and if you have built it to tight tolerances the tilting means that The damn thing just won’t go. Luckily, as it is wood I was able to take it out to the shop cut it in half put the 2 pieces in place and then screw two brackets on the inside and everything is fine. The entire stand and the lid both have two coats of oil which will help stave off the warping from being so close to water. This is going to be an African Cichlid tank and I’ll be picking them up this coming Thursday. And now, sigh, back to the boot jacks.

In the midst of doing my latest boot jack order (250 of them) I’ve taken some time to build an aquarium stand for my third aquarium. It is 40 gallon and is 36x18x14”. Hopefully I’ll add water tonight and then fish in about a week. I used a lid from another tank and had to add 6” stretchers to each end to make it wide enough to work with the new tank.
