Guy Talk Tip of the Week
This week, the guys are talking about what’s really involved in a proper sod job.
A lot of people think laying sod is just rolling out some grass… but there’s actually quite a bit that goes into doing it right. Here’s how we do a full sod project from start to finish:
1. We start with a site visit, then provide the customer with a detailed estimate and timeline based on when the sod is available and when our team can schedule the job. Sod is not always available every week — availability depends on weather conditions and when the farms can harvest it.
2. Once everything is confirmed, we remove all the existing grass, weeds, and debris.
3. We then level and grade the soil so water drains properly.
4. Next, we bring in and spread fresh topsoil to give the new sod the best possible base.
5. Then we lay the sod itself, making sure the seams are tight and staggered.
6. Next, we discuss the watering needs and schedule with the customer, and if necessary, schedule visits and/or provide hoses, etc. to ensure the lawn is adequately watered.
7. Finally, we do a full site cleanup so you’re left with a clean yard, not a mess.
A proper sod job is all about the prep work. The better the base, the better your new lawn will look and last.
Have a lawn that needs replacing? Send us a message — we’d be happy to come take a look.
