Before we say goodbye to a house, we take a second look at what it has to offer.

This South Delta home will soon make way for something new. But before demolition begins, we’re looking at what can be salvaged, reused and given another life.

The cedar lining the interior is one example. Rather than sending it to the landfill, we’ve salvaged it for future use. Some of the appliances are also finding their way into another home.

For us, building responsibly isn’t just about what goes into a new home. It’s also about being thoughtful about what comes out of the old one.

One of the changes in this home was turning the former wine room into a generous custom pantry.

With floor-to-ceiling cabinetry, open shelving, a wine fridge and plenty of room to keep everything organized, this space is built for a home that knows how to entertain.

There’s a lot taking shape in East Ladner.
This interior renovation is bringing a fresh look to a family home, with work underway throughout the kitchen, living and entertainment areas, three bathrooms, laundry room and flooring.

We’re currently working through the final design details and plumbing fixture selections and looking forward to seeing how this project shapes into a home!

If you’ve been selling homes in Ladner and Tsawwassen for a while, chances are you’ve crossed paths with Lentel.

We’ve been building in South Delta since 1975, so our work has become part of a lot of the neighbourhoods around here. Over the years, we’ve also gotten to know many of the realtors who work in the community.

They’re often the people helping families make the move into South Delta, and we know that buying a home can sometimes be the beginning of a much bigger project.

There’s a lot to figure out when you’re building or making significant changes to a home. Having people around who know the area, know the houses and have been doing this for a long time can make those conversations a little easier.

We’ve always liked working with people who care about the community as much as we do.

Before we talk about finishes, we look at the house itself.

How does the space work? What’s worth keeping? Where are the opportunities? What might be hiding behind the walls?

After more than five decades of building and renovating homes, we’ve learned that the best renovation plans aren’t always the biggest ones.

They’re the ones that make the most sense for the home, the people living in it and the goals of the project.

One of the things we liked about the Crescent Cottage was seeing how much the space changed without adding to the footprint.

We vaulted the ceiling and opened up the living, dining and kitchen areas, which made the main floor feel much larger and brought the spaces together.

It’s a relatively simple idea, but the difference it made to the home was significant.

Built to last.

We’ve been building homes in South Delta since 1975, and one of the things that hasn’t changed much over the years is how we think about construction.

We use durable materials, proven technology, good people and plenty of experience. And we try to build every project a little better than we have to.

A finished home is one thing, but seeing it working well years later is something else. That’s what we’re interested in.

Cedar is a pretty familiar material here on the West Coast, but it isn’t the material you’d typically expect to see used for the structural timbers of a timber frame home.

For our Westham Island Timber Frame project, the homeowners wanted natural wood to be a central part of the home, so cedar was used for both the timber frame and the raw cedar siding.

There was a bit more to making that work than simply choosing a different species of wood. Cedar doesn’t have the same structural strength as some of the species typically used for timber framing, so the timbers had to be made larger than usual. The project also called for specially designed connectors, which were brought in from Austria.

The end result is a home where the material does more than add character. The cedar is part of the structure itself, inside and out, and gives the home a distinctly West Coast feel.

It’s a good example of how material choices can shape both the look and the way a home is built.

Ever wonder how many people it takes to build a home?

Every project is the result of skilled trades, trusted partners, and months of collaboration. While the finished product often gets the spotlight, it’s the people behind the scenes who make it all possible.

Which trade surprised you the most?

We know there’s been lots of buzz about The Nest on here, but we can’t help it.

For months, this project was drawings, concrete, steel, and countless hours of work from an incredible team of trades and partners. Today, it’s full of people.

There’s something pretty special about seeing a building transition from a job site to a place where the community gathers. Congratulations to everyone who helped bring this project to life.
