Not to tempt fate by saying the “w” word but winter is a fantastic time for tree pruning while the trees are in their dormant state. Here’s why:

1️⃣ Prevents spread of disease and infestation such as Dutch elm disease or oak wilt.
2️⃣ Allows for proper healing and closure of the “wound” before the weather is warm and the tree is trying to grow.
3️⃣ Quick recovery with new growth in the spring.
4️⃣ It’s easier to evaluate the tree’s health and structure without the foliage obstructing the view.
