Here’s a quick look at removing an old leaking shower cartridge — Moen M1225 cartridge

I’ve been seeing a lot of hype around the MoonBlaster tool. It’s basically like a mini caulking gun designed to pull cartridges.

Problem is… it’s around $280, Meanwhile… the new Moen cartridge comes with a white plastic pull tool in the box — and it works just fine.

Not saying specialty tools don’t have their place, but sometimes the “free” tool gets the job done just fine.

Work smarter, not more expensive.

Quick tip for removing a crimp ring when you need to swap a fitting or tie into an existing line 🔧💧

Sometimes it makes more sense to carefully cut the ring off and install a new pipe and ring instead of reworking everything. Done properly, you can save time and avoid unnecessary damage to the system.

Hopefully this helps someone out there.

Quick tip for removing those thin brass nuts on any cartridge 🔧💧

Most people try to grip them tight with pliers, but that usually just bends the nut and makes it harder to remove.

Instead, I set my pliers so the handles close snug, place the teeth over the nut, and let the teeth do the work while I guide the twist. No crushing, no bending, and it comes off clean every time.

Hopefully this helps someone out there. Good luck, guys 👍
