I want to address some online criticism about my continuing to volunteer to cover graffiti on the Agricultural Society’s livestock barn.

My intention has always been to provide a service to our community—not to draw attention to my company. I’m sorry if the spotlight on Lockwood Painting over the past few weeks has rubbed some people the wrong way. Honestly, I didn’t ask for it.

I would much rather the graffiti hadn’t happened. Repeatedly donating the labour and materials costs money and takes time away from paying work. But I made a promise to help the Agricultural Society with its painting needs, and I intend to honour it.

The Agricultural Society and the Fall Fair have meant a lot to my family and this community for at least the 55 years I have lived here. This is one way I can give back.

If keeping that promise and taking pride in my community makes me a bad person in someone’s eyes, so be it. I’ll keep showing up.

It was an honour and a privilege to be invited to the CFUW SouthPort Scholarship Awards Night. 🎓👏

Lockwood Painting was proud to be asked to sponsor a Women in Trades Scholarship, supporting women as they learn and build their skills and pursue rewarding careers in the trades.

As a painting contractor, I know how much talent, dedication, and opportunities matter today. It’s a privilege to help someone take that next step into a trade.

Congratulations to all the scholarship recipients, and thank you to CFUW SouthPort for your commitment to education and our community.

A big THANK YOU to everyone who has reached out with kind words and support for Lockwood Painting’s efforts to cover the horrible graffiti on the livestock barn at the Owen Sound Fair Grounds. Your encouragement means a lot and is appreciated. ❤️

The weather has delayed us, but we’ll take care of it soon, once conditions allow. We’re proud to donate our labour and materials to help keep our community looking its best.

Having lived in Owen Sound and the surrounding area for 55 years, I know how much organizations like the Owen Sound Agricultural Society mean to our community. Their dedication to the annual Owen Sound Fall Fair has been important to me and my family for decades.

I was born and raised in Owen Sound, and volunteering my time is one way I can give back to the community that has given us so much. Helping keep it beautiful is something I’m proud to do.

Here my response to the latest thread posted on Facebook’s Owen Sound Hubbub - link below.

Just to clarify: Lockwood Painting donates both the labour and materials to cover the graffiti on the livestock barn. I received the latest call on Friday.

Over the past couple of years, I’ve contributed many hours and hundreds of dollars to this effort. Covering this type of graffiti requires specific oil-based primers and paints to prevent it from bleeding through. I last painted over it during the first week of September, and unfortunately, it needs to be done again.

For those asking why it’s still there, please understand that this work takes time and is done at our expense. I expect this latest cleanup to take approximately a full day.

If you’d like to help, you’re welcome to join me this week. A few extra hands would be appreciated!

GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY — ONE COAT AT A TIME!

The Lockwood Painting crew was happy to step up once again and donate our time to help clean up our community.

Unfortunately, another city building was recently vandalized with vulgar graffiti. Rather than leave it for everyone to look at, our team volunteered our time and painting expertise to cover it up and help restore the building.

For us, running a painting company is about more than completing jobs and collecting a cheque. This is our community too. We live here, work here, raise our families here, and we believe local businesses should step up whenever they have an opportunity to make things a little better.

A few gallons of paint. A little bit of our time. And one less piece of vandalism in our community.

💪 Proud of the Lockwood Painting team for always being willing to lend a hand.

Lockwood Painting had a fantastic time at the Blue Mountain Home Builders & Trades Association Annual Golf Tournament at Duntroon Highlands Golf Club, just outside of Collingwood!

It was a great day on a beautiful course, with delicious food, plenty of laughs, and even better company. Events like this are always a great opportunity to connect with fellow builders, tradespeople, and industry friends.

A big thank you to everyone who helped organize such an awesome day. We’re already looking forward to the next one! ⛳️🏌️‍♂️
