The best kitchens are about what you see from them, not just what happens in them.

Panning in from the kitchen nook, this space opens up to one of our favourite sightlines in the home. A handcrafted rift-cut white oak island grounded by honed marble, a plaster hood that anchors the kitchen, and views straight into the great room so everything feels connected.

We spend a lot of time thinking about flow and how spaces relate to one another. From morning coffee at the island to evenings around the fire, this kitchen was designed to feel beautiful from every angle and work just as hard behind the scenes.

Bathrooms deserve just as much attention as kitchens, in our opinion. They are among the most used spaces in a home, and when designed well, they quietly make everyday life feel better.

From the powder room layered with marble and unlacquered brass to a light-filled ensuite with a vaulted ceiling and freestanding tub, every space in this home was designed with its own personality while still feeling connected.

The Jack & Jill bathroom was designed to function beautifully for busy mornings with the tub/shower and toilet tucked into their own rooms, while separate vanity areas keep things moving. Bedroom four had a vaulted ceiling and soft, layered finishes, and even the lower-level bathroom received the same level of thought and detail. Every space is unique yet they all flow and work together so well.

This scullery is one of those spaces that quietly steals the show. It is a space we spent a lot of time designing during the planning phase, ensuring we had the perfect proportions and layout once the walls were up.

Wrapped in marble, flooded with natural light, and finished with unlacquered brass, it sits just off the kitchen and provides our clients with a beautiful space for prep, cleanup, coffee, entertaining, and keeping the main kitchen polished.

With integrated fridge drawers, an additional dishwasher, a built-in coffee maker, two extra wall ovens, and so much storage, this space works incredibly hard behind the scenes. The checkerboard marble flooring ties back to the foyer & mudroom, oversized windows flood the room with light, and every inch was designed to be as beautiful as it is functional.

Walking into this home, the foyer sets the stage right away.

The two-storey entry is wrapped in floor-to-ceiling paneling, herringbone flooring, soft arches, and a staircase with a gentle curve and handforged iron railing that quietly pulls you through the space.

The checkerboard marble at the entry connects back to the mudroom, the oak flooring warms everything up, and every detail was designed to feel elegant without feeling overdone.

A foyer should set the tone for the entire home, and this one certainly does.

The hardworking spaces in homes deserve just as much attention as the main living areas.

For this young family, the mudroom and laundry room were designed to feel connected, both wrapped in the same soft blue cabinetry, marble surfaces, and layered details found throughout the rest of the home.

The mudroom was designed to handle the day-to-day, with individual lockers, a sink for quick handwashing at the door, a full-length mirror tucked into the pocket door leading to the walk-in closet, and storage that keeps everything organized but still beautiful.

Upstairs, the laundry room was designed to work hard too. Dual washer and dryers, substantial storage, a sink, and an island that works for everything from folding to crafts and projects with the kids.

Because in a family home, these are often the spaces that work the hardest, we always invest extra time to ensure they are perfect.

Some homes deserve more than one post. So over the next 12 weeks, we’re sharing one home each week and taking you a little deeper into the design's thinking. Every home we build is completely different, designed around the people who live there, their lifestyle, how they entertain, what matters to them, and how they want their home to feel.

We thought we’d start with our French Modern home, a favourite all around.

From the soft curves of the arched entry to the layered exterior materials, the covered outdoor living, and the timeless proportions, this home feels elegant without ever trying too hard. It is one of those homes where every detail quietly works together.

This week we’ll share more from inside, including one of our favourite foyer and stair moments and, of course, the kitchen.

A quick tour of this all-walnut, handcrafted kitchen from our recent spec home, which sold before it was even completed.

The perimeter is wrapped in honed Viola Calacatta marble, carried right up the walls to frame the range and sink. Then the island shifts to a honed granite slab, darker and more durable, designed for where real use happens every day.

This one is all about balance: rich walnut, bold stone, and just enough contrast to keep it grounded. The plaster hood and lighting soften it and pull everything together.

Walking through our latest home , the arches quietly frame each space and pull everything together without trying too hard. The kitchen carries that same balance, warm oak, soft cabinetry, and those darker counters grounding it all, with brass layered in just enough to catch your eye.

We kept the palette consistent with what you see in our custom homes, just a clean flow from one space to the next. The lighting was a big part of that, too, adding a bit of softness during the day and a completely different feel at night.

This is one of those homes that feels right the second you’re in it, and it’s exactly what our clients were after. A dream home come true!

Walking into this kitchen, it’s all about balance. Classic cabinetry, a bold slab at the range, and warm wood grounding the island.

We focused on smart storage without overloading the space, mixing closed cabinetry with just enough glass to keep it light.

Layered lighting carries it from day to night, keeping everything warm but still crisp. Creating homes like this for amazing families is what makes this a true dream job.

Our take on a modern kitchen.
It started with the 11’6” ceilings, so we leaned into the height instead of fighting it. Cabinetry runs all the way up, and the vertical reeded detail on the hood pulls your eye exactly where it should go.

Rift-cut white oak paired with black-lacquered cabinetry keeps the space grounded, while the quartzite extends through to the back pantry, so it all feels connected. That pantry is tucked behind a custom iron-and-reeded-glass door, which honestly might be one of my favourite details in the whole house.

It’s modern, yes.
But it’s still a kitchen you actually want to spend time in.
