New in the pollinator patch this year. Phacelia tanacetifolia with gorgeous, periwinkle blue flowers.

It’s an annual so I’m hoping to collect a few seeds so I can grow more next year. Hopefully it will drop some seed too so I don’t have to worry about collecting them.
This cute flower won’t be making the cut for any bouquets this year for that reason. I guess the bugs 🐞🐝🦋will get to enjoy all the blooms this year.

Cottage Garden Kits are ready for pickup (but only if you pre-ordered). Check your email for details.

I can’t wait to see your gardens in bloom this summer!

I might have a few more seedlings available once I’m finished planting. Just send me note or comment if you’d like to be on the waitlist to purchase and I’ll let ya know 🌱

Happy Mother’s Day! Whether your a mom, a grandma, a mom-to-be or a mother figure to someone else, I hope you have a wonderful day. Thinking of the moms who’ve already left this place, and holding a special place in our hearts for them today too!

The cold snaps and snow storms through April this year did me in. All of these ranunculus were supposed to bloom this week. Can we just move Mother’s Day to the end of May so I can have fresh flowers for you to give your mom!

IN other news, I still have a few Ranunculus plants for sale if you‘d like to add some to your garden or containers.

It would be a whole lot easier if these specialty flowers were available as bedding out plants from the nursery each spring.

To make sure the best flowers are available for customers all summer long I carefully plan and select which flowers to grow, order the unique seeds (these aren’t in the pop-up seed kiosk at CT), then start planting. Some seeds need several months of growing inside, under lights, so they are started in December, January and February. That’s a lot of hours spent checking, watering, and checking again.

It’s getting close to the time when some of these seedlings can be moved outside. The shelves won’t look this full again until next year.

Ever wonder why the flowers from the nursery or garden center are shorter than you hoped? It’s because the compact varieties are intended for home gardeners. Make sure you read the label so you’re not disappointed. The tag will tell you the mature size and somewhere between 8-14” is common for annuals. Check the snapdragons next time, they’re short. I love that I can choose varieties that grow to 36-48”. Tall, and perfect for a Cottage Garden!

I’m definitely obsessed with this garden style! Gentle curves, overflowing beds, various heights, lots and lots of scented flowers. It’s an English cottage garden, and I’ve been planning for months. Do you like it or hate it?

Recycling and using what’s laying around. I knew I kept the old deck boards for a reason. Also, that project was 10 years ago. Some might call me a hoarder. 🙄
