Kim and his wife wanted to have an elevator in place before they actually needed it.

We worked closely with Chris Gallant to retrofit a custom home elevator for their home.

Kim sat down with us to talk through the experience. The schedule. The management of the site. The stain matching on the millwork.

Ranchland Reno

Starting demo on the primary ensuite. Two bathrooms are becoming one. Barrier-free shower, freestanding tub, double vanities, creating one large, accessible space that’s easier to navigate for the client.

Part of our renovation process is documenting the space properly before work moves forward and at key stages along the way.

We complete these scans at a minimum at project start, after rough-ins and framing, and again at project completion.

Kevin is Alberta-born and raised, and spends most of his time outside of work outdoors. In the warmer months, you’ll find him mountain biking, backpacking, or fishing, and in the winter, he and his soon-to-be wife like exploring new coffee shops and ending the day trying a new beer. He’s also recently taken up coaching youth football. Kevin owns a white Shiba Inu, drinks his coffee black, and somehow has a collection of more than 70 plaid flannel shirts.

At Shift Projects, Kevin is a Red Seal Journeyman Carpenter responsible for the rough carpentry side of our work, including demolition, framing, and concrete, while also helping train apprentices. What he enjoys most about the work is turning ideas into tangible results and mentoring the next generation of tradespeople. His commitment to accountability and discipline shows up in the way he approaches every project, holding himself to the highest standard of experience for our clients.

The finishing details matter as much as the mechanics. Front closet, upstairs doors, elevator interlock and a full hazard assessment before any of it happens.

Meet Josh, Co-Founder and Operations Manager at Shift Projects. Josh starts most mornings the same way: getting the kids ready, sharing a few quiet minutes together, and starting the day with family before heading into the office. Coffee is simple and strong, but connection comes first.

Outside of work, Josh is happiest outdoors. Hiking, mountain biking, skiing, or jumping into a cold lake when the opportunity presents itself. Weekends are usually spent getting the kids outside, building something with his hands, or finding an excuse to move.

At Shift Projects, Josh focuses on operations and ex*****on. His job is making sure that what we promise clients is delivered properly. From site standards to team accountability, he believes the details matter because they’re what clients live with long after the project is finished.

The team was on site installing the elevator. This stage also involves finalizing the controller location and confirming the hydraulic requirements.
