Progress is coming together beautifully at the Bergen Acreage II.

Tile work is nearly complete and it’s setting the tone for the rest of the home. Next up is hardwood, bringing warmth and continuity throughout the space. The backsplash is being carried 9 inches above the countertop, thoughtfully aligned with the tub surround for a cohesive, elevated finish.

And mornings like this remind us why acreage living in Alberta is something special. Open views, quiet surroundings, and a home designed to take it all in.

Built with purpose. Designed for real living.

Bergen Acreage II Update ✨

Progress is moving beautifully at Bergen Acreage II. The ceilings are now fully textured, giving each space a polished finish, and tile installation officially began today.

We’re also reviewing an important design detail with the backsplash layout. Matching the tile line from the tub would bring the backsplash to approximately 22 inches above the countertop, so final adjustments are being considered to ensure the perfect balance for mirror placement and overall design flow.

At Thomas Built Homes, every custom home in Alberta is built with thoughtful details and clear communication from start to finish.

When it comes to finishing touches, do you prefer a bold full-height backsplash or a more classic lower profile?

The materials you choose shape more than just the look of your home. They influence sustainability, durability, and long-term performance.

Recycled and reclaimed building materials are a smart way to reduce construction waste while creating a home that feels intentional and unique. Materials like recycled steel, glass, and concrete help lower environmental impact by reducing the need for new resource extraction, without compromising strength or quality.

Reclaimed wood brings both character and function. With its natural texture and aged stability, it adds warmth to modern spaces while performing well in Alberta’s changing seasons. From feature walls to ceiling beams, it is a design choice that tells a story.

At Thomas Built Homes, we believe in building with purpose. Thoughtful material selection allows us to create homes that are not only visually striking but also aligned with sustainable building practices in Alberta.

What sustainable materials work best in Alberta’s climate?

With long winters and freeze-thaw cycles, material choice matters. High-performance insulation, triple-pane windows, durable exterior finishes, and low-VOC interiors all help improve comfort, efficiency, and long-term durability.

At Thomas Built Homes, we build with materials designed to perform in Alberta conditions, season after season.

Planning your custom home in Alberta? Let’s build it right from the start.

Building a healthier home starts with the materials you choose.

Low-VOC paints and finishes are a simple but powerful way to improve indoor air quality while still achieving a beautiful, high-end look. Traditional paints can release chemicals that linger in your home, but low-VOC options are designed to reduce emissions, minimize odour, and support a more comfortable living environment.

From vibrant, long-lasting colour to durable finishes that resist wear, today’s eco-friendly paints deliver both performance and peace of mind. This is especially important for families with children, seniors, or anyone sensitive to strong fumes.

At Thomas Built Homes, we believe your home should not only look exceptional but also feel safe, clean, and comfortable from the moment you walk in. Thoughtful choices like low-VOC finishes are part of building smarter, healthier homes across Alberta.

Thinking about building or renovating your home in Alberta? Let’s create a space that supports your lifestyle from the inside out.

Bergen Acreage II is coming together beautifully.

The exterior is now 99% complete, and inside, we’re making steady progress. The interior has been sprayed, with final wall finishing to follow once the ceiling texture is completed.

The new tub is in place and fits perfectly, and our electricians are on site getting started on exterior lighting.

Every step forward brings this home closer to completion, with care and precision behind it all.
