NTI, a Norland Company, is halfway through a major industrial materials-handling installation in the lower mainland, and the progress on site has been impressive!
Over the past year our team has been working on the railcar dumping system for a potash expansion project that will move Canadian potash mined in Saskatchewan to the BC coast for export around the world. This system forms the receiving end of the transport chain - where full unit trains arrive and are positioned, indexed, and unloaded efficiently to keep material flowing.

What we've accomplished so far:
☑️Installed rail support beams and hopper systems
☑️Installed the vibratory feeders, quadrant gates, and tail end receiving conveyor
☑️Erected the dumper assembly building housing all of the equipment
☑️Began erecting the dust collection system
☑️Installed the pre-fabricated substation building ☑️Installed the railcar indexer spinebar and rails to extremely tight tolerances
☑️Received and pre-assembled the indexer staged outside of the assembly building
☑️Began outfitting the electrical, hydraulic, lubrication, pneumatic, washdown, and vacuum systems

As the general contractor, NTI is coordinating multiple subtrades while self-performing the structural and mechanical installations.

We're excited to move into the next phase of installation and commissioning, building the infrastructure that keeps Canadian trade moving.

Demolition in Vancouver's downtown Eastside is about careful control.

Years of deterioration and a dense urban footprint meant the old Balmoral Hotel had to be dismantled carefully and methodically.

Our approach prioritized safety, precision, and environmental responsibility from day one.

Project Highlights
✅ Nearly one full year of hazardous materials abatement before structural demolition began
✅ Detailed engineering and sequencing due to the building's fragile condition
✅ Self-erecting crane and high-reach excavator used to remove the structure floor-by-floor
✅ Close coordination with surrounding properties in a tight urban environment
✅ Significant volumes of brick, wood, steel, and concrete diverted from landfill

Working in the heart of Vancouver's Downtown Eastside required careful planning and constant communication with neighboring buildings and stakeholders.

Projects like this demonstrate how modern demolition has evolved into controlled urban deconstruction-balancing safety, engineering, and sustainability.

Proud of the team that brought this challenging project to completion.

We enjoy tearing things down just as much as we like building them.

But real demolition? That's not chaos. It's controlled, deliberate and planned down to the smallest detail.

For our group at Pacific Demolition, it is a precise and technical process. Our teams deliver selective and structural demolition using advanced methods, detailed assessments, and a safety-first mindset - often in tight urban areas, sensitive environments, and high-risk conditions.

From controlled demolition, cutting and coring, to asset recovery, hazardous material handling, marine and industrial demolition, every move is sequenced with care. Adjacent structures are protected. Risks are managed. Nothing is left to chance.

Because even when you're dismantling what's been built, how you do it matters.

Every story starts somewhere. And for Kate Mah, that start was stepping onto a construction site for the first time as a co-op intern with our BEL Contracting crew.

Her term on the Holdom Overpass Project was a busy one, moving from observing the work to actively contributing by working with clients and vendors, helping build work plans, and tracking production alongside experienced team members.

Her experience is the perfect reminder that construction is about so much more than building physical spaces. It's about creating those less visible spaces for people to learn, grow, and find their footing.

Proud of the work put in by Kate and the team that supported her along the way!

This week is Women in Construction Week.

We recognize the vital contributions of women across Norland who show up every day on site, in the office, in the field, and in leadership.

Your experience, skill, perspective, and talent make our teams better and the industry stronger. Thank you all for everything you do.

Digging a hole is easy.

Keeping everything around it standing? That's the hard part.

Across Norland, our excavation and shoring teams - BelPacific, Glacier, and WGC - specialize in the careful art of going down without things going sideways.

From deep excavations and complex shoring systems to tight urban sites with zero tolerance for movement, our crews plan every cut, brace every wall, and manage risk before a bucket ever hits the ground. It's technical, highly coordinated work and when it's done right, most folks never notice at all.

Which is exactly the point.

Because great excavation and shoring isn't about how fast you dig - it's about how well everything around you stays exactly where it should.

Yes, there's an explosion. No, it's not chaos.

Across Glacier Blasting & Shoring, Pacific Blasting and Western Grater (WGC), Norland's blasting crews specialize in making big noise - in a very controlled way.

Every blast is engineered, timed, monitored, and backed by strict safety protocols. From mines and pipelines to slopes and transportation corridors, we move rock with precision, not surprises. (We like our blasts accurate and just a little bit boring!)

Because great blasting isn't about the bang.
It's about getting the result exactly right.

From roads, excavations, and complex demolitions to industrial installations and major civil projects, 2025 was a year of teamwork and great work.

We're taking a beat to reflect on what we've accomplished together and the impact of our work.

To our teams, partners, clients, and suppliers, great work this year!

Bel, a Norland Company, has moved on to the next phase of the 78th Interchange project in Delta with the installation of a 2.4 meter-diameter 90-meter-deep steel pile.

This steel pile is part of the center pier for the future two span steel bridge connecting Ladner Trunk Road to the Parkwood Industrial Estates over the highway.

Thank you to Henry Foundation Drilling Inc. Job well done!

British Columbian's are one step closer to a safer, more connected roadway.

Norland companies NTI and BEL Contracting are proud to support the potash-shipping expansion project at a terminal in Vancouver.

Following BEL's site preparation and excavation, NTI mobilized to begin installing the railcar dumping system, completing the hoppers and rail support beams earlier this year.

Norland's teams are delivering a streamlined, coordinated solution for our client, and helping to build Canada's shipping infrastructure.
