Bathroom fan replacement!
This had been badly done twice over before we got to this job. The most recent installation before we came was done by securing the vent pipe with only Gorilla tape, which fell off and filled the attic with mold and fungus. We replaced it with a new Panosonic whisper quiet fan and secured it with rigid ducting. You can see from that last video how strong the airflow was!
Keep your bathroom and attic free of mold, get a proper bathroom fan installation :)

The most important step on a backsplash job is to ensure that we get a good straight line to start with. To achieve this, we used a laser all across the kitchen. Once the first row is straight, everything else falls into place.

After levelling the subfloor, the next step is Schluter Ditra. Ditra is a decoupling membrane that protects the tile from expansion of the floor. After that, it was time to lay down tile! These were 24" by 24" tiles, which took a while to install, but we're pleased with the result.

After replacing the subfloor, we needed to level it. This was done using a combination of self-leveling cement and manually applied floor patch. This is a very important step, especially with large format tiles, to ensure there's no lippage and everything lines up nicely.

Here's the beginning of a kitchen tile job! We got called in to lay tile after a botched hardwood job was ripped out.

The first step consisted of ripping out the old, damaged subfloor, and laying down a new one. We needed to make sure all the edges were well supported to prevent them from moving under foot traffic. We installed solid blocking around the entire perimeter to ensure we had a rock solid base for the tile installation. You can also see some floor patch and primer, getting prepped for the next step, floor levelling.
