Day 5 of 5 Days of ULMA | Custom means more than colour.

We’re wrapping up our 5 Days of ULMA with the Dina Vila Nova residential project in São Paulo, a great example of what can happen when the façade solution is considered as part of the design process, not simply selected at the end.

The project features ULMA STONEO panels in custom colours, developed specifically to achieve the architectural vision.

But the customization went beyond aesthetics. ULMA worked through cost analysis and optimization, studied panel layouts and fixing-system efficiencies, and developed multiple colour tests before arriving at the final solution.

It’s the kind of collaboration we love to see: design intent, technical performance and budget working together.

5 Days of ULMA — Day 4: Reimagining the Existing

Façade design isn’t always about starting from scratch.

The rehabilitation of this office building in Finland had a clear objective: modernize the exterior while preserving the personality and character of the original architecture.

The result demonstrates the potential of ULMA STONEO in renovation and rehabilitation projects — creating a contemporary new identity while giving an existing building a renewed architectural life.

For architects working with aging building stock, façade rehabilitation offers an opportunity to improve more than appearance. It allows existing structures to evolve while respecting what was already there.

Sound Solutions is proud to represent and help Canadian architects explore STONEO and other innovative ventilated façade solutions for both new construction and renovation projects.

5 Days of ULMA | Day 3

A little texture. A little contrast. A lot you can do with one slat.

Meet K-SLAT — ULMA’s elongated STONEO façade system, shown here at the Arrikrutz Caves Project.

At 1800 x 200 mm, the slats can run horizontally or vertically, giving architects the freedom to play with colour, direction, pattern and rhythm.

DAY 2 OF ULMA 🤍

5,200+ m² of ULMA STONEO — and a pretty spectacular example of what happens when material becomes part of the architecture.

At the Distrikt residential development in Lisbon, the LOOK Mini Vertical Wave texture brings rhythm and subtle texture to the façade, while the black and white palette plays against those incredible balconies — and that Lisbon light certainly doesn’t hurt.

This is exactly why we’re spending five days showing off ULMA. The possibilities are pretty hard to capture in a product sample alone.

Spotlight on ULMA

Welcome to 5 Days of ULMA — five projects, five different looks and a chance to show just how versatile one façade system can be.

ULMA’s STONEO ventilated façade panels give architects plenty of room to play creatively, while delivering the durability and building performance happening behind the pretty exterior.
