Good morning! I have a friend in Haiti who I am so impressed with! He has been living on our campus with his wife and now newborn baby for about a year and a half.
He has been working hard in our church to gather young people and teach them musical instruments and how to sing in a choir. He lead the team in organizing our first Easter concert which gathered over 200 people to our church which is usually around 65 people.
He built a convenience store with a barber shop in it and has been a successful business owner since being forced out of his home in Ganthier by gangs. (He led the number one high school in that region for 7 years)
Ever since I met him over 10 years ago, he has been dreaming about leading Haiti out of it's current disaster. He shared a current hope of his with me last week and I wanted to invite you all to participate with me in his dreams.
He wants to create a free online School of Haitian Citizenship. This is a subject that has become mandatory in Haiti but most teachers who are qualified to teach the subject have fled the country.
The class will create a space where students all over Haiti will be able to learn about topics such as the constitution, the challenges of democracy, moral values of their country, the importance of the individual, the collective memory, the impact of deforestation, and the importance of their environment.
Makesnel Ulysse is a follower of Jesus who loves his country and is committed to working on this project for the next 10 years. He also hopes that this will create a network of leaders and give him a platform for a future candidacy toward being the president of Haiti!
Pray for him and his family. Pray for this dream of his to come to reality. Consider donating towards his goal of $7,000 for all of the tech equipment needed to create this online class!!
**Do not give to Cornerstone Haiti for this project** It is politically motivated and though we support him and these efforts, the funding is not to go through our 501c3. If you want to invest in his dream and the future of Haiti I can facilitate the funds getting to him in Haiti.
