The renovation of the Royal Conservatories of Brussels has started, but there’s still music in the air

Conservamus was launched by a group of music-lovers who share a concern for and commitment to Brussels musical life. The main goal of the organization is to protect the buildings of the Royal Conservatory. For the founders, thorough renovation is the only solution to the state of emergency in which the buildings find themselves today. In the longer term, Conservamus would also like to focus on the

promotion and optimal use of the buildings. The project involves not only the concert hall, but also the music library and all the buildings along the rue de la Régence, the Petit Sablon park and the rue aux Laines. The buildings currently belong to the Belgian state and are managed by the Régie des Bâtiments. They are home to the two music conservatories (the Conservatoire Royale de Bruxelles and the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel, part of the Erasmushogeschool), which fall under the French and Flemish community respectively. Conservamus functions primarily as a meeting place, discussion forum and think tank for the public authorities and other parties involved in the management of the buildings and the institutions it houses. The non-profit organization ensures that all parties involved in the ambitious renovation project speak as one. The Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles and the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel are without doubt the two most important participants in the project and Conservamus ensures that they are kept closely involved. These two institutions are responsible for organizing the artistic training that enables our young musicians to become excellent artists and both need a tool that matches their ambitions. Through this project, Conservamus is striving to preserve for future generations both the buildings of the Royal Conservatory of Brussels and the cultural institutions and heritage housed within them.

✨ The holiday season is just around the corner, and we’re happy to share some early treats! A closed venue, an empty building, and holidays on the horizon leave us with a bittersweet feeling. Les rénovations ont commencé, mais la musique résonne encore dans l'air, et c'est avec fierté que nous vous présentons ‘A Break during the Works’ ! 🤩 Le 24 octobre, la salle de concert vibrera une dernière fois, interrompant les travaux le temps d'une soirée avant de tomber dans le silence pour un moment.

Rassemblant plus de 70 étudiants du Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel et du Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles, l'Orchestre Symphonique Conservamus sera dirigé par la jeune étoile montante Ana María Patiño-Osorio, et accueillera la pianiste de renommée mondiale Eliso Virsaladze pour une interprétation époustouflante du Concerto pour piano de Schumann.

Tout est prêt pour une soirée inoubliable ! ✨

Met meer dan 70 studenten van zowel het Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel als het Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles, zal het "Conservamus Symphony Orchestra" onder leiding staan van de rijzende ster Ana María Patiño-Osorio. En de wereldberoemde pianiste Eliso Virsaladze zal schitteren met een adembenemende uitvoering van Schumanns Pianoconcerto.

Alles is aanwezig voor een onvergetelijke avond! ✨

Bringing together over 70 students from both the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel and the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles, the Conservamus Symphony Orchestra will be under the direction of the rising star Ana María Patiño-Osorio, and welcome the world-renowned pianist Eliso Virsaladze for a breathtaking rendition of Schumann’s Piano Concerto.

Everything is in place for an unforgettable evening! ✨
