Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant moves one step closer to power generation.
Fresh nuclear fuel loading into the reactor core of Unit-1 has been successfully completed, marking a major milestone toward commissioning and commercial electricity generation. The loading process, which began on April 28, involved the gradual installation of 163 fuel assemblies into the reactor core.
Project officials confirmed that the entire process was carried out in strict compliance with international nuclear safety standards and operational procedures. The next phase will include installing the upper section of the reactor, connecting the required in-core instrumentation systems, and conducting additional tests to ensure the reliability and safety of all technological systems.
The reactor will soon be brought to the minimum controllable power generation level, after which its capacity will be gradually increased. Successful completion of these steps will pave the way for the start of trial and commercial operation of the first unit.
Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant is a landmark national project that reflects Bangladesh’s progress in energy security, technological advancement, and clean power generation.
