Alhamdulillah!
UL has published the firestop design for uPVC SDR 33 (3.4 mm thick) & SDR 26 (4.2 mm thick) pipe pe*******ons using the Metacaulk firestop collar system.

We sincerely thank the Rectorseal/Metacaulk team for their dedicated efforts and collaboration. This development will make it significantly easier for the industry to properly install certified firestop solutions for pipe pe*******ons.

It is also a proud moment that we supplied uPVC pipes from Bangladesh to Rectorseal for UL testing, and by the grace of Allah, the system has successfully passed all requirements.

ধারাবাহিকভাবে ঘটে যাওয়া সাম্প্রতিক অগ্নিকাণ্ডগুলো আমাদের একটি নির্মম বাস্তবতার মুখোমুখি দাঁড় করিয়েছে অগ্নি নিরাপত্তা নিয়ে দীর্ঘদিন ধরে যেসব কথা বলা হয়েছে, তার অধিকাংশই বাস্তবে রূপ পায়নি। বরং এই খাতকে কেন্দ্র করে দায়িত্বপ্রাপ্ত অনেকেই কার্যকর উদ্যোগের বদলে নিজেদের স্বার্থসিদ্ধিতেই বেশি মনোযোগী ছিলেন এমন অভিযোগ এখন আর অমূলক মনে হয় না।

National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)-এর এক বিশেষজ্ঞ বহু বছর আগে বলেছিলেন, একটি দেশে অগ্নি নিরাপত্তা বিষয়ে জনসচেতনতা তৈরি করতে কমপক্ষে ১০ বছর সময় লাগে। মানুষকে বোঝাতে হয় কেন আগুন লাগে, কীভাবে তা প্রতিরোধ করা যায়, এবং দুর্ঘটনার সময় কী করণীয়। এরপর আরও প্রায় ১০ বছর সময় প্রয়োজন সঠিক অগ্নি নিরাপত্তা সরঞ্জামের ব্যবহার ও প্রয়োগ নিশ্চিত করতে।

এই বাস্তবতা বিবেচনায় নিলে আমাদের অবস্থান স্পষ্ট, আমরা এখনো সেই প্রাথমিক ধাপেই আটকে আছি।

প্রশ্ন হলো, এত বছর ধরে দায়িত্বে থাকা ব্যক্তিরা কী করেছেন? কেন এখনো ভবনগুলোতে মানসম্মত অগ্নি নিরাপত্তা ব্যবস্থা নিশ্চিত হয়নি? কেন নিয়মিত মহড়া, প্রশিক্ষণ ও মনিটরিং কার্যক্রম দৃশ্যমান নয়?

যারা বিভিন্ন কমিটির দায়িত্বশীল পদ অলংকৃত করছেন, তাদের এখন আত্মসমালোচনার সময় এসেছে। যদি দায়িত্ব পালনে ব্যর্থ হন, তবে নৈতিকতার জায়গা থেকে সেই পদ ছেড়ে দেওয়া উচিত। কারণ একটি দেশের মানুষের জীবন কোনোভাবেই ব্যক্তিগত স্বার্থের চেয়ে কম গুরুত্বপূর্ণ হতে পারে না।

অগ্নিকাণ্ড কোনো দুর্ঘটনা নয়, এটি অনেক ক্ষেত্রে অবহেলা, দুর্নীতি ও অদক্ষতার ফল। তাই এখন সময় এসেছে কথার চেয়ে কাজকে প্রাধান্য দেওয়ার। প্রয়োজন কঠোর নজরদারি, জবাবদিহিতা নিশ্চিত করা এবং সর্বোপরি মানুষের জীবনকে সর্বোচ্চ অগ্রাধিকার দেওয়া।

দেশ ও দেশের মানুষের নিরাপত্তার স্বার্থে, দায়িত্বশীল সকল পক্ষের প্রতি আহ্বান এখনই কার্যকর পদক্ষেপ নিন। আর দেরি নয়।
