With the ban on engineered stone, finding high-quality, practical alternatives has become a priority for both builders and homeowners.

Like many in the industry, we initially explored sintered stone and porcelain as replacement options. While they produce a fantastic finish, they can be challenging to fabricate, transport, and install, particularly in regional Queensland, where experienced installers are often difficult to source and wait times can be significant.

To provide our clients with a reliable, locally supported alternative, we’ve partnered with Bundaberg-based Designer Solid Surface to supply and install SilkSurface silica-free benchtops.

For this alfresco BBQ area, SilkSurface delivered the premium appearance our client was after while offering the benefits of a silica-free product.

At ENKI, we’re committed to sourcing quality products and working with trusted Australian suppliers to deliver the best possible outcome for every project.

Why ENKI?

In Sumerian mythology, Enki is the god of wisdom, craftsmanship, and creation. While we certainly don’t claim to be gods, we do believe that great workmanship starts with thoughtful design, practical problem-solving, and a commitment to doing things properly.

That’s why we’ve expanded our workshop with 3D printing and 3D scanning capabilities.

This custom carry case was designed and manufactured in-house for an environmental consultant to safely transport high-value water quality sondes, calibration solutions, and essential field tools. Every component was modelled specifically for the equipment and printed using UV-stable ASA filament, producing a durable solution built to withstand the harsh conditions these units will be exposed to.

We’ve also added a professional 3D scanner to our workshop, allowing us to capture existing components with incredible accuracy for custom design and reverse engineering.

Too often, perfectly good equipment is discarded because a single plastic part has failed or is no longer available. We want to help change that.

By combining 3D scanning, CAD design, and manufacturing, we can reproduce obsolete or damaged components, extend the life of valuable equipment, and reduce unnecessary waste. Instead of replacing an entire assembly or waiting weeks for parts to arrive, we can often design and manufacture a replacement locally, within hours.

At ENKI, we believe innovation isn’t just about creating something new, it’s about finding smarter ways to solve problems and making quality equipment last longer.

Every project starts with a conversation.

When meeting with clients to discuss a new project, I use some basic 3D design software to bring their ideas to life before any work begins. It allows us to visualise the finished result, refine the details, and make sure we’re both working towards the same outcome.

Clear communication is one of the most important parts of any successful project. That’s why we invest the time upfront in the planning and design stage. While there can be plenty of discussion and refinement during this process, it helps eliminate uncertainty once construction starts.

The result is a smoother build, fewer surprises, and confidence that everyone is on the same page from day one.
