Seamungus, a comprehensive plant and soil conditioner, combines the benefits of seaweed, fish, humic acid, and manure to protect plants against heat, drought, frost, pests, and disease, available in 1.2kg pellets and 1-litre liquid.

A limited supply is carried in my vehicle for purchase during pruning and fruit tree care services. Delivery or pick up by prior arrangement.

Why Isn't My Fruit Tree Producing?

Getting little to no fruit from your trees? You're not alone!

Here are the top 7 reasons (and what you can do about them):
1. Water – Consistent deep watering during dry months is non-negotiable for good yields.
2. Fertiliser – Feed your trees with organic fruit tree fertiliser when they need it most (spring, after harvest, and late winter for deciduous fruit trees, 6 times a year for evergreen fruit trees).
3. Weather at flowering – Cold, rain, or wind during bloom time? Unfortunately, this one's out of our hands and often causes inconsistent crops year to year.
4. Not enough bees – No bees = poor pollination. Plant more bee-friendly flowers if your garden is quiet during spring!
5. Missing a pollinator – Apples, pears, and most plums need a compatible partner nearby. Tight on space? Grafting a second variety onto your tree works brilliantly.
6. Pests & diseases – Healthy soil = healthy trees = better pest resistance. Add compost, mulch well, clean up fallen fruit, and prune for airflow on a dry day.
7. Incorrect pruning –over-pruning or pruning the wrong branches = no fruit! Know your tree's habits before you cut.

Important Alert for SA Fruit Tree Owners!
It's been weeks since our last decent rain, and your fruit trees are feeling it. After two very dry summers in a row, many trees across our region are showing clear signs of water stress.

Here's what's at stake: Right now, many fruit trees are forming buds for next year's crop. If they're water-stressed now, you'll see it in lower yields next season.

Your quick action plan to protect next year's harvest:
=Water deeply around the outer canopy (the drip zone) where feeder roots concentrate – drippers work best
= Layer up: Add compost first, then thick mulch to lock in moisture
= Give them a boost: A seaweed extract like Seasol or Seamungus helps trees cope with heat stress

Yes, fruit trees will survive on minimal water, but thriving and producing well is another story. A little care now pays off in fruit bowls next year!

Before & After: Nectarine Tree Transformation!

This nectarine had grown quite large and needed some attention to bring it back to a manageable size for easier harvesting and care.

Since I'd pruned it 2 years ago, the structure was already solid—this time I focused on controlling the size and improving airflow. The tree battled peach leaf curl this spring, so I've recommended a winter spray of lime sulphur (while dormant) followed by copper at "bud burst" to keep it under control.

The key to healthy, productive fruit trees? Annual pruning after harvest! It keeps them manageable, encourages consistent cropping, and better airflow means less disease pressure.

Happy New Year everyone! 🎉
I'm back from the holiday break and now taking bookings for summer pruning. (If you left me a message while I was away and didn't hear back, my apologies – I couldn't access messages during that time.)

Summer pruning season is here! If your stone-fruit harvest is done, now's the perfect time to get your trees pruned. Espaliers could also use a light prune right now.

This is my busiest time of year, so get in touch soon to secure your spot. Still harvesting? No worries – just contact me when you're ready!
