Our August orchid club meeting is this Tuesday August18th at 7:30 in the CWA Rooms Kepler Street. Guest speaker and plants for sale this month. Our speaker is Murray Harding. He frequently presents talks across Australia on native orchid breeding and Phalaenopsis care. He was also a featured speaker at the 2024 World Orchid Conference in Taiwan. Social dinner before at 6:00 at the Flying Horse for anyone interested. No entry charge but bring gold coins for the plant raffle. Members remember to bring plants for the display and discussion table.

For the first time – guided tours of Warrnambool’s annual orchid show. Friday October 2nd. Get a group of 10 or more together. Email [email protected] to book a time (10, 11, 12, 1, 2, 3). Arrive together, pay together ($4 ea). Be guided around with explanations about the main types of orchids, the variety of orchids grown locally (yes, in the cold), native orchids (species and hybrids), prize winners, and more.
Sorry, no sales on group tour day. These are only at the show itself Saturday and Sunday October 3 & 4.

Our annual orchid show is only a few weeks away. Amazing displays of locally grown orchids. Plant and media sales, workshops, static information. Find out about orchids that grow outside in Warrnambool, see tropical exotics, marvel at how many native species and hybrids are shown. October 3 & 4.

There was an amazing range of orchids on the show table at our meeting last Tuesday. All were grown in and around Warrnambool, many without heat. Cultural info for each was discussed. More will be at our August meeting on the 18th at 7:30 in the CWA Rooms in Kepler St - everyone is welcome. Look out for orchid workshops at Port Fairy Community House (August 8) and Warrnambool Community Garden (September 26).

Our next orchid club meeting is Tuesday July 21st. Dinner at the Flying Horse at 6:00 for anyone interested in some extra socialising. Meeting starts at 7:30 at the CWA rooms in Kepler Street. On the agenda is discussion of our club win at the Victorian Country Orchid Challenge in Shepparton last weekend, and a video on how orchids have adapted to survive in nature. There will be both common and unusual plants for display and discussion, a gold coin raffle, and supper and more socialising at the end for those who like a chat.

Our Warrnambool club stand has once again won the annual Country Challenge, this year in Shepparton. An amazing display on our stand and all the club stands at the show. Locally keep an eye open for information on our Warrnambool orchid show later in the year.

Members of our orchid club have made the journey to Shepparton for the 2026 Country Orchid Challenge. Our display is now set up. Judging in the morning tomorrow. We will let you know how we go.

Coming up the last weekend in August in Skye, other side of Melbourne. It's a huge show.
