Blackett Homes Building luxury, high-quality homes for over 40 years in Canberra. Blackett Homes was incorporated and commenced operations in March of 1981.

Over the past 33 years we have grown from a very small company to one of the Canberra region’s most successful and long standing residential building companies. A family owned business Blackett Homes has a strong commitment to Canberra and the surrounding region. Employing over 22 fulltime staff members along with a large team of reliable subcontractors, Blackett Homes supports local trades, suppliers and consultants with many of these relationships spanning over twenty years. Blackett Homes is a forward thinking company with a strong financial base utilising the latest technologies and processes. Blackett Homes has a wealth of experience having built over 2000 houses, townhouses and apartments since 1981. Working with a variety of clients including private, government and semi government authorities such as Defence Housing Australia and Community Housing Canberra, Blackett Homes continues to enjoy a high percentage of repeat business from all sectors. Blackett Homes places the highest importance on Occupational Health and Safety to ensure the safety of our workforce and clients. Operating at one of the highest levels of OH&S compliance in Australia for residential builders and we are accredited to AS/NZ 4801 and the Federal Safety Commission for Occupational Health and Safety. Blackett Homes has been honoured with over 40 national and local industry awards by the Master Builders Association (MBA) and Housing Industry Association (HIA). For this Chifley home, we kept the kitchen bright and streamlined, using crisp white cabinetry to create a clean, timeless feel. We introduced black detailing through the splashback, windows and island to add contrast and definition, while the timber flooring brings warmth throughout the space.

And just behind the kitchen, we added a generous butler’s pantry with plenty of storage and additional bench space. We did this to keep the main kitchen feeling uncluttered, while making sure the practical side of family life had plenty of room to function.

Throwback to Norrebro, a townhouse development we built in Watson. 🏡

For this project, we wanted to create contemporary homes that felt connected as a development, while still giving each residence its own sense of space and privacy.

We used a mix of dark brick, vertical cladding and warm timber tones to give the façades depth and character. Large windows bring plenty of natural light inside, while private courtyards extend the living areas outdoors and give each home its own place to relax.
