Sometimes, painting isn’t the first step.
When mould and staining get this bad, simply painting over it isn’t a solution. The underlying moisture issue needs to be identified and addressed, affected surfaces properly treated and prepared, and only then can the coating system do its job.
We fix the cause, not just the colour.

Big projects take good people.

With Cessnock Leagues Club reopening after an extensive redevelopment, we wanted to give some recognition to the Colonial crew who helped get it there.

Proud of the finished project. Even prouder of the team behind it. Well done guys & girls. Great work!!!

We first arrived on site back in November, and over the months that followed our team worked across a large and constantly evolving project — working around other trades, changing work fronts, deadlines and the inevitable final push that comes with getting a major venue ready to open its doors.

There’s a lot more behind the finished photos than fresh paint.

It’s the early starts, the preparation, the coordination, the problem solving and the people who keep turning up and getting it done.

A big thank you to everyone from Colonial who put time into Cessnock Leagues Club, and to the Club Projects team and trades we worked alongside.

Cessnock Leagues Club — Open Again.

After months of work behind the scenes, the doors are open on the extensively redeveloped Cessnock Leagues Club.

Colonial Painting first came onto this project with Club Projects back in November last year, and it’s been great to watch such a major transformation take shape around us.

The redevelopment has completely reshaped the venue, with new and expanded dining, bar and entertainment spaces, extensive outdoor areas and a fresh new look throughout.

We’re incredibly proud to have delivered the painting and finishing works as part of the team bringing this landmark Hunter project to life.

A big effort from our crew over many months, working alongside Club Projects and the wider project team to get it across the line.

Congratulations to Cessnock Leagues Club on the reopening — we reckon the locals are going to love it.

From planning to completion.

It’s always satisfying to look back at where a project started.

From early site walks with the project team, working through access, sequencing and finishes, to seeing the doors open on the completed Cessnock Leagues Club refurbishment.

A lot happens between these two photos.

Proud of the role the Colonial Painting team played in bringing the project through to completion, and of the finish our crew delivered across the venue.

Thanks to Club Projects and everyone involved in the build for having us along for the journey.

We don’t cut corners — we paint them!

Can’t show you too much of this one just yet…

But we’ve just submitted our bid for a project we’d be very excited to deliver.

There’s a fair bit hiding behind those white boxes.

Now we wait. 🤞

Hopefully this isn’t the last time you see this drawing.

Introducing Greg
Colonial’s new Project Delivery Manager.
One week in and we’ve already got him out on site and well amongst it.
Greg brings a wealth of experience and capability to Colonial, working across our projects to support our crews, coordinate delivery and make sure the standard on site matches what we promise our clients.
He’ll be helping drive projects from handover through to completion, keeping communication flowing between our clients, office and site teams, with a strong focus on safe work practices, planning and making sure our crews have what they need to get the job done safely and efficiently.
We’re very pleased to have him aboard.
Now I just need to get a photo of him actually looking at the camera instead of working. 😂

Welcome to the team, Greg.

Doylo Refurbishment – Progress
A bit more involved than your average repaint.
Our team is currently on site for Club Projects Newcastle as part of the Doylo refurbishment, working through the new and existing ceiling, wall and trim finishes.
Plenty happening overhead on this one, feature ceilings, suspended sections, services and new construction all coming together while our painters work through the finishing stages.
Good commercial painting is often about fitting into the bigger construction programme, working alongside the other trades and getting the details right before everything disappears behind the finished product.
Great to see this one taking shape.

A little different from the usual commercial repaint.
Ray and Israel getting the first coat of Porter’s Fresco onto one of the feature ceilings at the Doylo refurbishment for Club Projects Newcastle.
This is only the first coat, the finish is still being built, but you can already see the hand-worked movement developing across the surface.
Alongside the Fresco, the main ceiling itself is anything but standard, with the curved feature design making this a pretty interesting project for the crew.
A good example of commercial painting being a bit more than rolling white ceilings & walls.
More to come once the finishes are complete.

People are often surprised by how much of a building can actually be painted.

It's not just walls.

Ceilings, cabinetry, garage doors, fences, weatherboards, handrails, roofs, trims, windows, feature walls... the list goes on.

We put this guide together because a lot of people simply don't know what's possible until someone points it out.

Painting isn't just changing colour. Done properly, it's protection, maintenance and adding value to your biggest asset.

What's something on here you didn't realise could be painted?
