Very neglected deck.
And yes… it’s my own. 😂
Been hammered by sun, weather, and years of “I’ll sort it next month”.
Finally gave it some attention today. First coat of CUTEK CD50 down and it’s already starting to look respectable again.
Still dry.
Still rough around the edges.
But the timber’s absolutely drinking it in.
Good reminder that a lot of old decks don’t actually need replacing. They just need someone to stop ignoring them long enough to maintain them properly.
Typical painter’s house though.
Everyone else’s place looks schmick while your own deck’s hanging on for dear life. 🍻

Dulux spray training day.
Bit of hands-on training, and getting to play with some new equipment thats recently hit the market instead of just seeing it online.
Big thanks to the Dulux and Graco reps for putting it together.
Special shout out to Dan Travers for listening to the Accredited Central Coast members and putting this together.
And shout outs to;
Alisha @ Tuggerah Dulux store for hosting
Angie @ West Gosford Dulux for helping put it all together.
Also guest appearances by Painting by Josh sparing his expertise and experience.

Even after years in the game, there’s always something worth learning when you get a bunch of painters together comparing methods, systems, setups and shortcuts.
And somehow I managed to win the $1,000+ doorprize Graco PowerShot unit at the end of the day, so I’d call that a win 🍻

Now comes the disrupted schedules, and crews trying to keep projects moving while sorting out the chaos in the background.
and a few weeks of admin, insurance calls, and downtime that nobody budgets for when running a trade business.

Killcare job — 7 levels… safe to say we’re getting our step count in.

Who actually likes stairs?
Raked ceilings, beams everywhere, and gaps the whole way down — this one’s going to chew through a few boxes of filler.

Before we even start?
Steep block, no easy access. Everything in via verniculator just to get on site.

From there it’s all angles, height, and lighting that shows every little thing. Nothing straight, nowhere to hide.

Looks like a “pretty good condition” house… until you get into it.

Good thing Toby and Israel are on prep — that’s where these jobs are won.

Anyone can paint…
This is the difference.

Painters turn up with a brush, we turn up with a plan.

Heritage work showcase for '26
A few of the heritage homes we’ve been trusted with this year.
All different, but same story behind them, layers of old coatings, failed areas, and details that only stay sharp if you treat them properly.
None of these are “paint jobs”. They’re all process work. Strip back where needed, stabilise what’s there, and build it back up so it lasts, without burying the character.

Finishing up this Burradoo heritage home.

This wasn’t a wash and repaint. Years of coatings built up, loss of detail through the boards and trims, and sections starting to let go.
We went through it properly, stripping back where it had failed, filling & gapping just about every surface. Then feathering everything back, and getting the substrate to a point we could actually trust again. A lot of this job was decisions made metre by metre, not just rolling paint.
Topped off in Dulux Acratex Acrashield Advanced.
Goal wasn’t just to make it look good now, but to stop repeating the same problems. Bring it back to a consistent system across the whole exterior without burying the detail again.

Some jobs you chase. Some you wait for. This is the latter.

A proper home.
Full of detail, proportion, and intent.
The kind of place where colour isn’t picked — it’s considered.

This is where we do our best work.

Not just “paint it and move on”
— but understanding how light moves across surfaces
— how trims, beams, and planes relate
— how one wrong sheen or tone throws the whole thing off

That’s the difference.
