This is the part that decides whether your system still performs in year ten.

From 1 July 2026, customers on AGL’s Standard Retail Contract no longer receive a solar feed-in tariff. That doesn’t apply to every AGL customer: market plans, rates and eligibility vary.

VPPs could save you more on your power bill. But they’re not for everyone. ⚡

Australia’s consumer watchdog, the ACCC (Australian Competition and Consumer Commission), compared average annual savings for households using solar self-consumption with households in a VPP. In the data Andrew discusses, VPP households saved more on average.

But an average isn’t a promise. VPP operators may control some of your battery, which can affect how much energy you keep for your home. Check the battery use, backup settings, rewards and exit terms before signing up.
